The S5 is the high-performance version of the A5. It is powered by a 2,995cc, 6-cylinder TFSI engine petrol engine that produces 329 BHP and 440 Nm of torque. In global markets the car is available with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission and a Quattro all-wheel drive system. The company claims that the car can reach 100 kph from a standstill in about 5 seconds and touch an electronically limited maximum speed of 250 kph.

On the inside, the S5 is equipped with three-zone climate control, flat-bottom multifunction steering wheels, seats with S5 embossed on them, heated and electrically adjustable front seats with memory function and 60:40 split rear seats, panoramic sunroof, ambient and footwell lighting, MMI navigation with voice control and a 505W Bang & Olufsen sound system with 14 speakers.

Re: Scoop: Audi S5 imported into India; launch nearing?

This has been in the works for a while. The RS5 after the facelift and price hike has become a dead product for Audi. Even though it is the perhaps the last naturally aspirated v8 from the Audi stable besides the R8, there aren't any takers for the price.

I think Audi will price the S5 between the TT and RS5 at the approx 75 lakhs ex-showroom(which is the price the RS5 was launched at in 2011/12). The TT is priced at 60 currently and the RS5 at 1.10cr.

I hope they bring back the S4 when the new gen model is launched as it is a practical everyday sports sedan.
Could this be an S5 sedan launch that could be a logical step for Audi to take since the S4 is currently discontinued? Moreover it will not conflict with the TT or RS5 sales and fill the void that has been created since the A7 is now discontinued. The S5 sedan would be a fitting replacement for the A7, a true sports sedan.

That being said I can vouch that the S5 coupe will be a great everyday sports car even on Mumbai roads! I use my RS5 nearly daily and have driven it on various sort of roads, albeit carefully. The car has never really bottomed on any speed breaker that a normal luxury german sedan wouldn't. My S-class bottoms more than the RS5!

Re: Scoop: Audi S5 imported into India; launch nearing?

Several months ago, the new A4 was undergoing it's final stage of testing. This year's Frankfurt Motor Show played host to the unveiling of the new generation A4. This means the A4 is being phased out globally, if it hasn't happened already. So what is Audi doing by launching this S5 here in India when the new A5 / S5 is right around the corner? Is this an attempt to shift as many kits of the old S5 as possible? I am not sure.

Audi A5 coupe revealed

Audi has finally revealed the Audi A5 coupe internationally at a media presentation held at its Ingolstadt headquarters in Germany on Thursday,5th June 2016.
The car is set to go on sale later this year and has a two door body style. Some of the styling elements seem to have been borrowed from the outgoing model, while others are a lift from the new generation of Audis.
The car gets a new grille, similar to the current gen Audis and also gets the new Audi matrix LED headlamps, similar to the ones seen on the new A6.The wheel housing is now larger and the rear bumper has been tweaked along with the addition of sharper tail lamps.
Although the styling might look similar to the outgoing car,the A5 is based on the new MLB platform, which underpins the new A4.This means that the A5 has the same wheelbase as its four door sibling, the A4.The use of aluminium has helped to reduce kerb weight by around 60 Kg.
The interiors look very similar to what are offered on the newer A4.The layered dashboard and virtual cockpit, with its 12.3 inch High Definition instrument cluster are the standout elements in the cabin. The cabin quality and feel of the plastics is similar to that of the outgoing car.
These are the technical specifications for the car
Petrol-
2.0 litre EA888 producing 190 BHP or 251 BHP depending on the state of tune and mated to a six speed manual or seven speed DSG gearbox
Diesel-
2.0 Litre EA288 producing 190 BHP and mated to a six speed manual or seven speed DSG gearbox
3.0 Litre 6 cylinder producing 218 or 272 BHP depending on the state of tune. The 218 BHP variant is paired to the same six speed manual and seven speed DSG as the other 4 cylinders pots, while the 272 BHP version gets Audis quattro all wheel drive system as standard and comes mated to an eight speed automatic with paddle shifts.
Underpinning the new A5 Coupe and its S5 Coupe sibling is a newly developed chassis featuring optional damper control and a variable-ratio electromechanical steering system, as seen on the A4 sedan.

While Audi revealed the new A5 Coupe, the manufacturer has imported its four-door Sportback sibling to India with the model spotted testing. The new Sportback is expected to be revealed globally at a later stage. As of now, there is no news if the new A5 Coupe or its more powerful S5 sibling will head to India. Audi currently offers the A5 in India in the form of the fully imported S5 Sportback.
The A5 will be positioned above the A4 IMO but will cost less than the A6 and will also offer less space. Can I call it a performance A4?
