Re: Fiat could replace Linea with Aegea or Grand Siena

This would probably be the best time for FCA to launch/hint a new car. It's been ages they've come up with a good product, and latest Compass' success have got people interested in FCA and made them relevant once again.

Re: Fiat could replace Linea with Aegea or Grand Siena

FIAT CRONOS is the name of the ARGO sedan ( X6S) as per leaked reports. The official name is to be revealed on 20th.

Cronos is the god of time, in Greek mythology-which is where the name Argo has also been picked.

Re: Fiat could replace Linea with Aegea or Grand Siena

Last week had taken my fiat punto evo for service and happened to have a chat with the sales executive in the showroom.

I asked him if fiat plans to launch any new cars considering they have been just coming out with the same punto in different avatars. As a loyal fiat customer it is a matter of concern that I don't see any plans for company to introduce any new car or even automatic/AMT option in existing cars.

Even though the information given by sales people should be taken with a grain of salt, but as per him fiat is currently focused on the compass and didn't want any impact on jeep brand that might be created by any new fiat cars introduced now. Even though fiat cars are good but the aam junta doesn't value the sturdy build, handling as compared to milage.

He assured me that fiat indeed is coming with new cars next year probably in Q3, which will not be the same Linea /punto based.

As per him they have already seen the cars in the fiat plant and testing is on (no clarity if it was road testing)

Let's hope this news is correct, if it indeed is then guess fiat will unveil the car in upcoming Auto Expo early next year.

Re: Fiat could replace Linea with Aegea or Grand Siena

There cannot be a more opportune moment for Fiat to make a mark. Compass is pulling in good number of people to its showrooms and having new fresh products albeit under the Fiat brand should get their cars at least in people's consideration set. The fact that Compass has become quite aspirational will only help the cause.

I think Fiat should just hold on for 2-3 years. It's still very early days for the Jeep Compass, and plus they have the Renegade in the pipeline for next year. Once these 2 products give Fiat some 3-4K numbers every month then Fiat can take the next step of more products. And even then I think further products should come thru the Jeep moniker and also continue with compact SUVs and cross overs since that's where the market is heading in the next decade.
I don't know what good a car like Aegea or Cronos could do that the Linea couldn't. Fiat cannot compete with Honda, Hyundai and Suzuki in the C segments, rather focus on niche segments like cross overs and SUVs where these three companies cannot match the presence and heritage of the brand Jeep.

FCA is not likely to launch any vehicles other than brand Jeep in India as of now.
If any launches of Fiat happens it will be 2020 and beyond.

Unfortunately time and again, FCA have expressed no interest to either loyal Fiatians or any questions from the media with regards to fiat, its a confirmed fact that FCA have killed Fiat in India

Kevin in his numbers of interviews has focused on Jeep and its range and cleverly avoided questions with regards to Fiat.

Re: Fiat could replace Linea with Aegea or Grand Siena

Fiat needs to localize the 1.6 in India, get the Multijet-II technology to improve lower end torque and maybe introduce a car brand with the Jeep. Fiat has a very bad reputation in India that the brand name of Fiat rings a bell with the unreliable Premier Padmini

Re: Fiat could replace Linea with Aegea or Grand Siena

Fiat has stopped production of all FIAT cars. No new Fiat launches on the cards. FCA looking at the Dodge Dart as a possible launch in India.

The Fiat brand name will be discontinued.

What's the source of your information if that's not a secret?
Fiat was almost good as dead with no significant launched in past few years.
Dodge Dart is a nice one if they are planning to, it looks far better than anything in its segment here. But how are they planning to launch it here, Dodge is unheard of here and it is going to be really tough to build a brand like Dodge.

Are you really sure of this? I am not aware if you have ever owned or driven this car, but I have always been around a 1968 model Premier Padmini of which I even remember the registration number till date (MEV 2400). It was a wonderful vehicle and it was with us till a long time after I learnt my driving on it at the age of 18. Never once in its entire duration with us has it failed or caused us grief with its unreliability. So I am not sure what you are hinting at. Of course as with all old tech, it required enough water to be present in the radiator to not over heat when driving in ghat sections. Apart from this one thing, we have never faced any issues. Same with multitude of Premier Padmini owners we have met over the duration of the ownership. So you can understand my curiosity about its unreliable nature that you have experienced. There are many people who are buying and restoring these to pristine condition even till date. Of course I am not aware of the engine spec in these but I have seen many of these do Coimbatore - Salem - Coimbatore without any break downs.

Also the famed national engine doing duty in a multitude of cars including the Swift, Ritz, Ertiga, Brezza, Ciaz etc are all FIAT engines. Not trying to say anything here but just a pointer that FIAT engines do not all break down at the drop of a hat and are pretty darn reliable going by the numbers.

Coming to the fact why Fiats never sold was because they were lazy and never woke up to the onslaught of the Japanese Maruti 800 encompassing the market. Though it was only an 800cc engine it was much better in power output compared to the 1.4L NA engine in the Premier Padmini. They were lazy to introduce bucket seats and floor mounted gear shifter and there were no seat belts too in the old models. By the time they came with the Palio, the buzz had moved on and it never clicked. Low FE was another road block for their success in the kitna deti hai mindset of those times.

Is it a confirmed news or just a rumour. Could you please share the source of this info.

Re: Fiat could replace Linea with Aegea or Grand Siena

Fiat is reluctant to carry on the baggage of their erstwhile tie-up with Premier.
