Fiat could replace Linea with Aegea or Grand Siena

Fiat mulling new sedan to replace Linea.

Fiat is set to significantly upgrade its model range sometime in 2018 with a family of new cars spun off an all-new platforms. The Aegea or Grand Siena hence may only be a stop gap arrangement till then

Quote:
Fiat is likely replace Linea with production version of Aegea concept or Brazil’s Grand Sienna in late 2016.

Quote:
The Aegea concept is yet to go on sale internationally as a production car (albeit under a different name)and Fiat has only developed the car forleft-hand-drive markets. But to launch it in India, Fiat will have to invest in tooling for a right-hand-drive (RHD) version which will be hard to justify if India is the only market for the RHD car. The current Linea sells on average 171 units a month and these volumes are too low to amortise the costs of expensive tooling for a new RHD dashboard and other ancillaries.
Quote:
The other option is the Grand Sienna. The car is essentially a heavily reworked derivative of the Linea developed for the Brazilian market. As with the Aegea concept, the Sienna is also a left-hand-drive and will go through the same steps to adapt it for right-hand-drive markets

Grand Siena looks DoA!

It looks like a cross between Ford Ikon and Fiat Linea. To survive Fiat should bring on Aegea or any other model from their line up.

Competition is going up in terms of looks and features, and Grand Siena looks like a half baked job in improvising the existing Linea. People need fresh from scratch design, not a toiuch up job.

If this is true, either the Fiat management is insane or we the public must be insane. How on earth do they think public will buy Siena as replacement for a better looking Linea? Bring the Aegea if not just continue the Linea albeit with a 1.6 heart and an automatic option also.

Aegea is incredible. It looks fantastic.

Grand Siena looks like a car from the 90s. If Fiat is going to bring this, they are determined to get out from this country with the poor sales of this poor thing. How on earth the Italians design such worse looking thing ?

AEGEA is the way to go unless Fiat continues to ignore market impulses. Just happened to see this video , exterior is stunningly simple yet attractive. Similarities with Ciaz is striking!

I hope they don't launch the Grand Siena, for some reason it reminds me of the Tata Indigo. The Aegea with a 1.6MJD II heart would suffice.

The grand Siena is a no no. The front reminds me of the old verna which was facelifted with a chrome grill. Aegea looks good but fiat should get it here asap with a powerful engine, better gearbox and automatic if possible.

As rightly said by some others Grand Sienna resembles Indigo. Aegea on the other hand completes the fluidification of Fiat. Frankly expected more out of Italy other than coming out with cars that look like Indica and Verna.

I think, the linea already has a timeless external design. It only needs a better heart and latest gadgets. Sienna is a big no no.

re: Fiat could replace Linea with Aegea or Grand Siena

Definitely a big NO NO to the Grand Sienna.
Looks terribly bad, and if Fiat India decides to get the Sienna to India its going to be the biggest blunder by the Product Planning Team.

To go with the Long Range Product Planning Calendar by FCA, Linea FMC is expected by Mid 2017.

Unless the Grand Sienna FMC which has more resemblance to the Aegea or the Viaggio.

re: Fiat could replace Linea with Aegea or Grand Siena

Fiat needs to know that competition has really moved on since the days Linea came into the market and compared to Grand Siena I would say Aegea is better successor to elegant Linea. If Fiat thinks that bringing in Aegea will require a huge investment. I would say "Fiat this is how you show commitment to the market".

re: Fiat could replace Linea with Aegea or Grand Siena

Grand Siena is just terrible. Better to retain the current Linea than bringing GS and killing their sales completely.

If they really want to bring something from Brazil, they should consider Palio Adventure locker. I personally feel they are missing out on a great opportunity here.

re: Fiat could replace Linea with Aegea or Grand Siena

While Aegea makes sense as it is a new model and yet to be sold internationally, Grand sienna makes NO SENSE. The article itself mentions

Quote:
The car is essentially a heavily reworked derivative of the Linea
Why bring a heavily reworked Linea, which is incredibly ugly looking, to replace the already beautiful looking Linea??

Again, if this is a stop-gap till 2018, I do not think there is any justification for the heavy investment they will have to make to launch a new model here. This news somehow does not make full sense to me. Instead of going for a stop-gap for 2 years and investing heavily for the new model in terms of assembly lines, dies, etc, they can give better engines and features in Linea and it might continue selling for a couple of years without a further slide. If at all they want to introduce a new product, it should be in the urban SUV space IMO.
