re: The 2017 Hyundai Verna. Launched at 8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

One of those initial reviews - they don't show the car much:
URL

I would be worried about two statements the reviewer makes:

1. Rear Feels a bit cramped : Did Hyundai miss the chance again to match up to City/Ciaz in terms of rear seat?

2. High Speed Stability has improved but suspension is still a softer setup. It makes be wonder if they have really solved the bottoming out/under belly scraping problem while the good news though is that high speed stability seems to have been fixed.

Looks like the display cars of the Next Gen Verna has started to reach the dealerships. Wish there were more scoops and leaks. I wonder why no one is eager about the new launch. Or is it hyundai doing all things to keep the leaks at bay?.

Hi Team. Today I was enquired about the availability of Hyundai Creat. I called up 6 Hyundai showroom across Mumbai but it seems the stock is running low as the manufacturing of Creta has stopped temporarily as the new Verna's production is on full swing.

NICE! The last time Hyundai boldly went ahead and revealed the internal cage structure of the car, it was for the Getz (it has 5 inch thick solid steel beams running across the doors and the front of the engine.. ridiculously over-engineered for those days and even a Polo of today come with mere cross-welded pipe-beams). If Hyundai is confident of revealing the internals of the structure for the Verna then it means that they're back in business, hope for once they share the kerb weight confidently as well (Getz weighs a portly 1080 kgs which they proudly advertised in the brochure and the old Verna if I remember being a 2 foot longer car weighed at 1033 kgs despite the 1.6 litre engine (surely they cut corners at almost all parts of the car, specially the structure).

I think they have a winner here, people can tease it for how it looks or simply not like it because its a Hyundai but as I said before, irrespective of whether it sells or not, this is a GOOD car and its refinement levels, build and reliability will match the segment toppers in each aspect if not exceed them. If one company gives us a mix of all the good stuff its Hyundai.

No. They did it for the Creta as well. Even the facelift Verna (Verna 4S) emphasized on the safety.

Correct. Assuming most of the safety features provided in Solaris (Verna in Russia) make it to Indian version, following official video is worth a watch

re: The 2017 Hyundai Verna. Launched at 8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

IAB has posted fresh pics of the car, with lightings and emblems taped off.

Looks pretty fine, I would say, much better and pleasing lines than the one it replaces.

Sadly, the interior is the same beige and black combo, with no sign (yet) on an all grey or black piece.

Quite like the interiors, and it got all the goodies like Cruise control, auto wipers and headlamp. Also a feature that is desired most for many - Sunroof.
Now if Hyundai price it sensibly I do not see why I will not eat into the sales of City and Ciaz.

Pardon me but the interior reminds be of the lower segment Hyundai Xcent. I was expecting more upmarket interiors closer to the Elantra.

re: The 2017 Hyundai Verna. Launched at 8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

While we keep guessing the price of this New Verna, I expect it to be a Good Seller compared to older one but dethroning City & Ciaz is a hard thing.

2 factors that'll definitely spoil Verna are Rear Space & Comfort. This is a USP of both Ciaz & City. While the car will be good looking & packed with features like any other Hyundai, The main aspect/Feature of a Sedan is lacking in this Verna.

So, I expect it to do well only if it's priced aggressively (Below Ciaz), which isn't expected considering the way they have priced Tucson/Creta etc.

Well, as expected interior looks neither classy nor sporty. It's plain downright boring to me! Sunroof gives it something to flaunt about. For me, it totally lacks character - inside out.

How do you know if it has not been improved in the new car?. The dimensions have definitely changed due to a different platform which can by all means translate into better rear space which was lacking in old verna. Let us wait till the car launch before writing off the car.

It is a typical hyundai interior. It is not as classy as a VW vento but definitely not as plain jane as ciaz which has a nostalgic feel of getting into a swift or ritz or a baleno which all looks same inside due to same steering wheel, ice and what not...
