They should have used the scorpion alloys and covered it somehow instead of using wheels from a 2012 Fiat Punto
But overall, seems like Fiat will launch it at the promised date; This must be a first in Fiat's current innings
Why do you say it is a matte grey car? Can't it be black or white?

Look closely at the door handle. Around the chrome area, you can see the matte grey shade

re: A Close Look: Fiat Punto Abarth. EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 9.95 lakhs!

Does not look like the Punto Abarth, following are the reasons -

  • The abarth has red / orange strips on the front and rear bumper as well as the front grill, while this has chrome
  • The abarth has black seats with contrast stitching while this one has beige or grey seats , it can be seen if one zooms in on the picture

One could argue that this may be the active or the dynamic variant of the abarth but most rumours doing the round state that there will be just one variant. However the old alloys kinda hints at that

Responding to "Who am I" : you're a chessboard wrapped 75hp Punto Evo :P. I'm guessing that from the beige and black combi of the seats in the car.

Alternatively this could be the dynamic version of the Abarth, if there's one. But this one has front fog lamps. The Punto Evo Dynamic doesn't come with front fog lamps. Either way FIAT has found an alternative way of disposing off the stock of old alloys.

re: A Close Look: Fiat Punto Abarth. EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 9.95 lakhs!

Guess this is a normal Punto dressed up to create a hype. Reasons are already mentioned above.

1. The horizontal slat doesn't have the red colour.
2. Alloys are different; I doubt the dealer is so smart to swap it.
3. I cant see the low lying exhaust tip.
4. Beige seats.
5. I doubt any dealership will take a risk to display a model which is yet to be launched; even though its camouflaged.

re: A Close Look: Fiat Punto Abarth. EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 9.95 lakhs!

Thanks to RD, we can end all those debates between Punto Abarth and GT TSi, where GT was considered 105ps at the wheels.

The figures at the wheels for GT TSi are given below-

Measured power : 89.67 whp
Measured torque: 128.95 Nm

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modifi...tock-cars.html

So the difference between Abarth Punto and GT TSi is indeed 40ps at crank. So the choice is between ~40% more power as in the case of Punto Abarth, or a superb automatic transmission as with the GT TSi.

Fiat, the Italian automaker will launch the much-awaited Abarth Punto hatchback in India on October 10, 2015. It will be the most powerful hatchback in its league.
Fiat Caffe outlets have already started taking pre-orders for the hatchback at a token amount of INR 20,000. It will be the second Abarth powered Fiat product in India.
We expect that the hatchback will be priced around INR 10 lakh.
The Abarth Punto Evo is powered by a 1.4-litre T-Jet petrol engine that also powers the Fiat Linea sedan. This engine is tuned to offer 145bhp of power and 196Nm of torque.

Thank you RavenAvi for sharing that piece of info. Finally, FIAT has some NEWS space for itself

A bite confused here on the power figures. With a credible confirmation on the date of launch, could this be the actual power output of the Abarth EVO Tjet that will finally materialize.

FIAT Fanatics were actually feeling a bit let down with the initial torque output of 225NM and now its going to be 196NM??

My Guess is, if these are the final 'Production Ready' figures, EVO T-jet may just be quite Fuel Efficient as well.

P.S - I just realized that sidindica's review post that started this thread, mentions the Torque figure as 'Unknown'. Probably, this was the reason?

Autocar India's video review states the torque figures as 21.5 kgm @ 2000-4000 RPM which is ~211 Nm. This to me seems more accurate since the Linea with its 113 HP generates 207 Nm. Why would they go back in a model that is more performance oriented?

The crediility of ACI is much higher than others like oncars etc. Also the fact that Autocar has got even the actual range of peak torque solidifies it. Just my opinion.

Saw one near Jakkur facing towards the traffic coming from airport. And hated it.

1. The colours are weird. Pink and yellow letters on blue? White and red as the usual FIAT theme would have been better.

2. Why is it showing FIAT with Abarth logo in one corner? There is no use promoting FIAT.

It should have been just Abarth. Not sure why they are trying to promote fiat now. People will think it's sticker job Punto like Maruti special editions.

3. Great build. Great drive. Great service!

Would have preferred a white colour board that shouts "145 bhp!". The Punto Abarth in picture, dealership details and the scorpion logo. Nothing more!

It seems odd that all the Punto Evo Abarth we have seen so far has chome lining around the fog lamp. However the one on billboard shows red color lining

There are stickers on the bonnet as well, which was not shown at BIC. Looks like some feedback was taken about the chrome parts.

This paper ad prominently mentions "145bhp", but it still has pink.

The more I see this the more I fall in love with it. I thought the Evo was a little overdone on the already stunning looking Punto.
Now this looks drop dead gorgeous.
