Refreshed 2016 Jaguar XJ is already here for homologation. Unit imported carries the same 2L petrol motor as in the current model.

re: The 2016 Jaguar XJ Facelift comes to India

XJ is long in the tooth and it is begging for a complete overhaul. It is however even more old fashioned when compared to the current S class.

Jaguar may have best exterior designer but they need to concentrate more on the interiors. Despite new factories, new recruits, new Aluminium plant in the middle east. I don't think they are up to the mark. May be the XE sport version is the only exception (read Motortrend US comparison of BMW 3 series vs XE S)

Read the 4 pot ingenium based Discovery in the UK sites, turns out it is not that great compared to BMW.

Still it is many many times better than what Jaguar under Ford's leadership.

XJ for me is a better option than even the new S ( I just bought the new W222 S350CDI brand new - so I can vouch for it ). The interior options on the XJ are far better than the S or 7 already and the sound system is much better too.

I guess just better leather quality would be good

Re: The 2016 Jaguar XJ Facelift comes to India

The XJ is a very good car - looks great and drives beautifully. The interiors are very interesting too. However, on the technology front, it's not quite there with the new S-Class. The engines are now old and the touchscreen is rather yesterday.

So, if Jaguar wants to keep up with the German trio, they need to keep updating their cars regularly. At least they seem to have realised that they can't sell anything less than their latest offerings in India.

If a model is introduced in Europe, it has to be introduced in India at the earliest.

This is a great car but needs to be priced more aggressively to match the S and upcoming 7. Although a great car, XJ doesn't command the prestige that the S and 7 share.

I would say that is in the eye of the beholder. If anything with the Jaguar XJ there will be fewer around I believe.. I cant really speak for India, but in Europe and in the USA most people would regard a Jaguar as a more exclusive car than any German make.

When we lived in the USA we got invited by loads of people to all sorts of functions, just because they thought we were British. (Well, my wife is, sort of)

By and all large people still associate Jaguars with gentlemen and S and 7 series with stuck up business leaders who drive a too expensive company car.

In Europe nobody will ever, and I mean ever, give way to anybody in a BMW, no matter the model. Nobody likes BMW drivers.

No passing judgement here, only reflecting on my perception of the brand.

Remarkebly, in the good old day, just about every villain in the UK drove a Jaguar. I think Jeremy Clarksson wrote about the XJR; the perfect car for the chap who takes his wife out for a really nice and romantic dinner and then spends the whole evening flirting with the waitress.

Takes all kinds,

I would take the XJ over the other two any time, if anything because the most others dont. And I like to think I'm a little more autonomous in my thinking.

And yes, I take my wife out for nice dinners on a very regular basis and we have been happily married for over 32 years, thank you very much.
