The Maruti Suzuki Dzire has crossed the 10 lakh cumulative sales mark. The Dzire was launched in 2008 and has been one of the best-selling entry level sedans in India. It is the only sedan to be in the top five most selling cars in India’s passenger vehicle market.



The Dzire is based on the Swift platform. At present it is available with a choice of two engines -

• 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol, 84 BHP, 115 Nm, 5-speed manual / 4-speed automatic transmission
• 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder diesel, 74 BHP, 190 Nm, 5-speed manual transmission

The car is equipped with features such as engine push start/stop button, reverse park assist, Bluetooth audio system and alloy wheels among others.

The Dzire is also exported to Africa, South America, Central America, Middle East ASEAN and SAARC countries. The cumulative exports till Jun 2015 were around 50,000 units.

With this milestone, Swift Dzire joins the Alto, Swift and Wagon R as a Maruti Suzuki model that has sold more than 1 million units.

To celebrate the milestone, Maruti Suzuki has lined up a month-long 'The sweets are on us' campaign. Through this campaign the company plans to share the moment with everyone at large. It includes sending edible direct mailers to the existing owners and creating edible art installations inside malls by artists.

Cumulative sales milestones:

• 1,00,000 units - September 2009
• 2,00,000 units - September 2010
• 3,00,000 units - September 2011
• 5,00,000 units - January 2013
• 7,00,000 units - January 2014
• 9,00,000 units - January 2015

Another feather in Maruti's cap. Just keeps going on and on, no matter what the competition throws at it, the Dzire just doesn't slip.
Indians love sub 4 metres sedans & they are crazy about the Dzire, it replaced Alto as the top seller for the past 2 months & has no intention of slowing down post the facelift.
Further, its seems pretty normal for hatchbacks to cross the 1 million milestone but a sedan cracking these numbers, is a feat in itself I believe.

Yeah but instead of being a proper sedan this is just a hatchback with a big rear. As you, me and everybody knows.

So the sales numbers don't surprise me. Pay marginally more to get three box!
For a car like Kim Kardashian with an extended...ahem!
