Just saw the pricing. Mouthwatering value indeed.

If you leave out the questionable safety aspect (same as the competitors), this is the new value king. Move over Alto. Also this would be a really bad news for Nano and to some extent Eon.

Renault, please do not blow up on your dealership and after-sales experience.

Kwid starting price is 2.57 Lacs ex showroom Delhi. That's a positive shock for sure. Awaiting all price list. Renault has done a strong statement for sure with this pricing

Top end 3.54 ex showroom delhi. That is a excellent pricing for sure. Maruti has really tough competition now. Eon will suffer more than Alto though.

Renault Kwid launched in India at Rs. 2.57 lakh!

The Renault Kwid has been officially launched in India, priced between Rs. 2.57 - 3.53 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Renault's Kwid entry level hatchback unveiled EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 2.57 lakhs!-kwid-city-drive.jpg

With 98% of localization at the time of its launch, Renault has managed to price this hatchback aggressively and much lower than what the company had initially promised of Rs. 3-4 lakhs. It seems like Renault hasn't left any stone unturned to take on India's largest selling car - Maruti's Alto 800 and the Hyundai Eon. At this price, it will surely attract Tata Nano buyers too.

The Kwid is the largest car among its competitors measuring 3,679 mm x 1,579 mm x 1,478 mm (L x B x H respectively). It has a wheelbase of 2,422 mm and boasts of a 300 litre boot space and 180 mm of ground clearance too.

This car is powered by a 0.8 litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The engine produces 53 BHP / 72 Nm. What's surprising is the car's power-to-weight ratio of 85 BHP / ton due to its 660 kg kerb weight. This motor has an ARAI certified figure of 25.17 kmpl.

The Kwid is available in 6 variants - STD, RXE, RXE (O), RXL, RXT and RXT (O). The top variant gets features such as a 7" touchscreen infotainment system with Navigation, Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in. It will also feature an optional driver airbag on the top RXT variant. The car will be available in 5 colours - Fiery Red, Ice Cool White, Moonlight Silver, Outback Bronze and Planet Grey.

Deliveries for the Kwid are likely to begin in the festive season. The car comes with a 2 year / 40,000 km standard warranty, extendable upto 4 years / 80,000 km.

Ex-showroom Delhi prices (in lakhs) of the Kwid are as below:
STD: Rs. 2.57
RXE: Rs. 2.89
RXE (O): Rs. 2.95
RXL: Rs: Rs. 3.12
RXT: Rs. 3.44
RXT (O): Rs. 3.53

I frankly expected an enticing price of 2.9 lakh to 3.9 lakh. Anything below 3 was highly Enticing in my opinion.

This final price is a shocker to me.

2.57 to 3.5 is absolutely mouth-watering pricing. Many thanks to Renault CEO Sumit Sawhney for bringing such a good product at such a pricing. Absolute winner from my perspective. Even though I am not in market to buy, i feel like selling my Diesel car and purchase this petrol-pot stunner.

Unless the Renault showroom guys become arrogant we have a winner here gentlemen!!!!

wow...!! One has to look real hard for reasons to buy a Alto now on. It will be a shame if this car is not gonna sell north of 10K per month. If KWID can return some real good mileage figures from the road it can become a real threat to most cars under 5L.

At last Renault is getting strategy right at the small car end!!!
Superb VFM and right inside Suzuki's net that to at the right timing.

In my opinion Kwid will built the brand in India that they dreamt of with Datsun.

re: Renault's Kwid entry level hatchback unveiled EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 2.57 lakhs!

If this does not dethrone the Alto from its perch, then no car in any Maruti dominated segment is ever going to threaten their dominance. Renault is practically selling a Swift sized car for Alto prices.

I am not in the market for one but am hoping for huge success for the Kwid. Hopefully this will do its part in slowing the tremendous price increases that we have been seeing in each and every segment of late.

re: Renault's Kwid entry level hatchback unveiled EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 2.57 lakhs!

Honestly speaking, pricing in the range of 3.5-5 lakhs too would have been good .
This pricing is a game changer. Price conscious and SUV drooling janta will surely be looking beyond the alto, eon, nano.
It can punch above its weight too(wagonR,celerio, etc) as the perceived value of this car is higher owing mainly to its looks and features. Seriously...touchscreen with GPS, bluetooth and driver airbag in a 4 Lakh car!!!! Kudos
