Not questioning the FE, but just want to clarify.

Yes there is that feature but the default option in my car is set at "manual" i.e, fuel economy meter will only be reset once I manually do it. So the 18kmpl is for the entire 230kms.

I reset the trip meter after getting the tankful. Good idea to reset fuel economy meter too that way I can compare if its showing correct figure.

Why not look at Wagon R AMT in that case. A very practical car with 1.2 L engine and AMT gear box

As per information from people in Maruti, the next generation Wagon-R is actually supposed to have the K12 engine.

That is clearly because it will be having a 7-seater version.

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

There is no word on the 7 seater project. Definitely won't be cheap enough to replace Omni or Eeco if a 7 seater is built on Wagon-R platform.

WagonR 7 seater is already available in Indonesia. Also see the link on the India plans!

And this is today, fuel economy meter was reset with trip meter so its economy is for last 18.7kms. I am not really into mileage thing but surprised to see 23+ did I buy a diesel car?

This is offcourse early in the morning with very little traffic (and no AC).

I have Baleno 1.2 petrol and even I was shocked to see mileage figures of 24 KMPL plus on MID . I would expect the same even on Ignis. 1.2 K series engine is a gem. Good engine note ( revv friendly too), performance and outstanding FE.

That news is unreliable in the sense that in their roadmap for upto 2020, there is no mention of a new 7 seater except Ertiga. As far as importing cars from Indonesia is concerned, it is a routine activity. We have seen earlier numerous pictures of Japan Domestic Suzuki vehicles on Indian roads. None of them fructified. Heck, during my visit to Suzuki in Japan, I saw BMWs and Mercedes vehicles along with Tata Nano and Reva. That doesn't mean Suzuki plans to make them. No offense intended.

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

Dr.Naren,

How much is the difference between MID and actual? People usually report the MID to optimistically show 1-2 KMPL more than the actual (calculated by tankful method).

Yes, there is a difference. I have observed that MID figures are slightly better. It usually shows around 8 percent higher in my Baleno petrol and also S-Cross 1.6.

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

For Jan 2017, the volumes for Maruti Models are :-
(all values rounded )

1) Ignis: 4,800
2) Swift: 14,500 ( vs 14,500 in Dec'16 & 14,600 in Nov'16)
3) Baleno: 10,500 ( vs 9,500 in Dec'16 & 11,000 in Nov'16)

& M&M
1) KUV 1OO: 2,700 (vs 1,900 in Dec'16)

One factor for sure is that Ignis was produced less & hence the artificial waiting ( 2-3 months)

But I am still trying to assess which model did / will the Ignis cannibalize ?

Last edited by FIAT3031 : 2nd February 2017 at 10:33. Reason: separated KUV from Maruti

The wife hates Wagon R, and even i am not a big fan now. That design, is well past its retirement age. Had it in the family a decade back, now does not makes sense. Just like an i10.
