Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

Any person going to the NEXA showroom will quickly make a pit-stop at the closest Suzuki or Hyundai showroom and get a good deal on the Swift or Grand i10. I wonder if their market research showed that the synonym for "millennial" is "idiot".

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

That's cool pricing. After all, the S-cross needs company in the Nexa outlets, and Ignis is sure to stand by with S-Cross.

Remember, they priced S-cross too quite high and then realised the mistake and corrected. But it was too late by then. S-Cross never really picked up too much after that.

Same story for Ignis.

EDIT: Good thing I went ahead and bought the elite i20 instead of waiting for Ignis. As compared to Ignis pricing, my Asta 1.2 vtvt looks completely VFM.

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

I was highly disappointed at the pricing.

The Zeta PL (ex-Del) @ Rs 6.30 Lac did not bring a 2nd thought to my mind
Its a big NO.

Initially thought of compromising on the HU with AGS being the only charm

That's indeed a shocker, even the VDi (O) also costs only 6k higher than this 'UV' or 'Crossover' from Maruti. And that sedan gets a higher power output too.

6.3L for the highest petrol Ignis AMT model. Whereas Polo TSi is 9.05L and Jazz S CVT is 7.62L.

Jazz actually loses out on features compared to the Zeta and not to mention the 1.3L head start that Ignis has.

Polo is a cool 2.7L extra. If one has that amount of money, why even look at this offering at all? How is any of the above two VFM (before discounts)?

Guys chill, the launch of Ignis was just an advertisement for Baleno and to clean up the last few units of swift which are lying in stockyards right before the launch of new Baleno and new swift.

But MSIL couldn't recognise it as a costly advertisement.

Ignis development cost of 950crore = advertisement cost for existing swift & Baleno.

Come on Maruti what were you thinking? Who is going to pay 8 to 9 lakhs on road and that too for a automated manual transmission (not even a proper cvt or such). And you are still bullish about being introductory price?!

Will it sell? definitely it will! but how long is the question? At this price point the yuppies will run out of money soon and then it will become yet another product in Nexa gathering dust like the previous launches.

I think as a product it is a better version of celerio, a modern gen z approach. Now if it had come with features like turbo multijet, AWD, Regenerative power plant, Radar then one would have blindly gone and paid 10L since the technology demands that money. In indian avataar only thing one can call as technology is LED headlights and the media connect, both conveniently omitted for AMT.

Thank you Maruti but no! i am dropping the plan to buy this product. Rather go with those amazing used deal for a Polo TSi and have a grin on my face!
Overconfidence from Maruti Suzuki IMO.

The result of thinking all the cars in 4 to 9 Lakhs bracket sell like hot cakes.

And then they "Uglyfied" Swift 2017 too.

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

Could be off topic, but I think the whole idea of Nexa is to launch over-priced cars. Not sure if the whole idea will work as Suzuki is expecting it to.

I think Suzuki is saying if you need VFM, walk in to a Maruti-Suzuki showroom. If you have plenty of money, walk in to a Nexa showroom. I dont think we should expect typical Maruti-Suzuki price for a car launched under Nexa brand.

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

Had a chance to check out Ignis, which was displayed at DLF Cyber City- Gurgaon and here are my two cents:-

1. The car is attractive in a “small and cute” sort of a way and is one of the better-looking ones in its category. (I am comparing it with KUV100 and KWID)

2. I was very satisfied with space on offer, with ample headroom and decent legroom at the back. However, the Ignis is on the narrower side and hence has a very small car feel to it. (I am 5’11 and I currently own a Swift)

3. Tires do look thin when viewed from back. Owners would definitely be tempted to upgrade to 185 or 195s. That said, I think r15 size does complete justice to the car and any upgrade in this aspect would be excessive.

4. Road presence of the car, in my opinion, would be in between a WagonR and a Swift. And this makes the pricing even more shocking.

All in all, not a very “value for money” product. Lower variant of the AMT petrol and lower to mid variants of the manual petrol might be the only worthwhile products. That too, if the buyers want to stick with only Maruti and are looking for something different from Swift.

Why not target super rich like Ambanis and sell at 10cr+. Millennial are more mature then their fathers and understand difference between Polo/ I20/ Baleno and ignis. Seems like he his putting his heart out and saying we can rob the 19 years as they have money.

I was in the exact same boat. So glad I did not wait for this. I will be smiling an inch wider when I take delivery of the I20 on Sunday.

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

Few weeks back I suggested my friend to watch out for Suzuki Ignis as his TATA Tiago delivery was getting delayed. Fortunately he didn't wait and got the invoicing done for his Tiago in December it self, expecting a increase in price. Though the car is in transit, he's very happy to see the inflated price of IGNIS because he got a very good deal.

Looks to me Maruti-Suzuki is planning cash in Nexa brand's popularity.

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

Well forget about the pricing and other details about the Ignis, I absolutely hate this car now and am quite likely to have a seizure if anyone mentions its name.

I had a very long and torturous 2hr drive through Mumbai this afternoon due to the traffic, and usually the Radio helps and 94.6 is my favourite. But the damn idiots had some tie up with MS for the Ignis launch and after EVERY SONG, the only Ad that played was for the Ignis launch and one retard repeating that stupid "None of a kind one of kind run of a kind" RUBBISH, Looped atleast 10 times with a stupid accent for atleast double the length of a song, ALL AFTERNOON !!
I should sue them for mental torture and damage to my ears and brains.

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

I'm dumbstruck!

I informed the prices to my cousin who has booked a Delta Petrol, he said he'll take a test drive and then cancel the booking. That car was meant for his parents in a tier 3 city, now he will be picking up a WagonR VXi O at less than 5L OTR.

My brother wanted to replace his Ritz with this, now he will definitely look elsewhere or maybe Baleno or even S-Cross. When payment is to be done as EMIs, it'll not make much of a difference. He was and is still keen on a small car, let's see what we finalise now. This reminds me of Creta fiasco and how disheartened I was that day, same for today.

MSIL should be reminded that every time they cannot pull a Brezza out of hat. What had they been smoking? If I've to spend so much, I would definitely like to look at all options in this price range. Maruti must understand that after sale service is not the only thing people look at.

I have a feeling that the reactions we are giving here on TeamBHP might be contrary to what people are thinking. I hope I'm proved wrong and Maruti is forced to do a price correction for this car. In my opinion, at least a correction ranging from 50K to 75K. Come on guys, you cannot charge so exorbitantly for LED headlights or for a NEW steering wheel?
