OT Post.. but couldn't help notice the number of Swift's in the background. I am sure there will be a lot of discounts on them in the near future with the new swift already having be showcased.

MSIL has done a good job in turning the good well put together interiors into ugly except for the alpha variant.
Seriously, when i first saw that car (Japan specific variant) i was all gaga over the interiors. It certainly feels refreshed but after seeing what MSIL has on offer for the public, highly disappointed.
Even though over all package is good but i can't live with those eye sore protruding HVAC unit and after market look alike music system. Even the touch screen one look out of place. Can't they integrate it the way they did for Japan specific variant. They should at least have provided ACC standard from delta onwards as a saving grace for the interiors the way they did for BALENO.

The ignis now flaunts its own emoji in twitter.

Would like to see some interior pics of the sigma variant.
With that hideous HU in the mid variants, I find not much value to go for them(except for colour choice). Better to go for the base sigma and get aftermarket fitments. ABS and airbags are anyway standard across variants.

Also, an all black dash would make more sense than the soon-to-be-yellowish white part of the dual tone ones.

White is a lot more contrasting than black and hence it would be all the more noticeable on the white.

1. Of course, 3M will charge a bomb on any work you do, compared to the aftermarket shops, but can be a little lesser than the same job done in the A$$ (eg. underbody coating, wax & polish etc)

2. I don't have a proper figure to quote you, my thoughts will be around 3-4K for the roof wrap. You could check with shops in JC road - that might be the most cost effective option for you.

There are some cars which have the roof wrapping done, on the forum. Have a quick check and you may get an approximate cost.

A reliable birdie has tweeted that the Maruti Ignis could be priced between:


Rs 4.50 lakhs to Rs 6.32 lakhs for the petrols (including AMT variants),

and

Rs 5.62 lakhs to Rs 7.47 lakhs for the diesels (including AMT variants).

I hope that's true. If it's below 6 Lakhs ex showroom for the top end Petrol manual, I'm definitely going for it. After having done the booking, I still haven't finalized on the Variant and color.

Maruti should have changed the Front Power Window console with Ignis from their traditional/old school console that we have been seeing from Swift (1st gen) onwards and then claim 'Maruti's FIRST Changeover'

If this is true, then my budget of 7.5L OTR Bangalore for the Alpha Petrol would be met (Keeping the extra 20k for new tyres, roof wraps and minor accessories). Fingers crossed.

Is it only in India that an auto tranny is unavailable in the top-end?

Both Ford Figo and Honda Jazz are unavailable in a fully-loaded auto version. And now Ignis.

VW gets its right - the TSI has everything.

Compared to earlier rumour 5.5 to 7.5l OTR for petrol & 6.36 to 8.35l OTR for Diesel, these prices look more realistic.

If we now compare these to the Baleno prices (ex. Delhi) given on the official nexa site, the Ignis will have takers finally. But will it now probably cannibalize the Celerio (4.18L onwards), Alto K10(4.22L onwards), Wagon R (4.26L onwards), Swift (4.92L onwards)? There are 66 options between 4L to 8L bracket when i do search for new cars on Carwale which forced me to limit the search to what MSIL has to offer and boy that list itself is 13 car long. So many options to make the customer think of an upgrade paying just about 50k more.

I dont think that the upper limit of price of the petrol variant in RavenAvi's post refers to the Zeta AMT version.

AMT normally has a premium of 50k over its manual variant.

The Alpha variant has ACC, projector headlamps, touchscreen infotainment, etc. which will definitely command a premium of at least 70 to 80k over the Zeta MT variant and this is definitely higher than that of the Zeta AMT.

So 6.32 lakhs will be the ex-showroom price of Alpha variant which will come to be 7.1 or 7.2 OTR.

I think the prices mentioned by RavenAvi would most likely fall in the range of 5.5-7.5L for petrol & 6.36 to 8.35L for diesel when translated to OTR.
Approximately, ~60-70k less than a Baleno when compared variant to variant. IMHO, it is similar to preferring a Celerio over a Wagon R with a few trade-offs.

A newspaper article mentioned that the Ignis was meant for "Affluent Youth".:D Hence, the night drives.

One more question arises, would the new swift be priced more than the Baleno? As the existing swift is approximately ~20k less(with discounts it is ~40k) when Swift Vdi ABS is compared with Baleno Delta.
