Suzuki agrees that Ignis is a mash-up of their own cars!

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

RS Kalsi, ED, Marketing & Sales, Maruti-Suzuki India Limited, has confirmed that the Ignis compact crossover will be launched in Q4 of FY2016 (between January 2017 and March 2017).

Quote:
"I would like to say that this car would be coming on the Indian roads sometime in Q4. So, it will happen in this fiscal, but in Q4.

Compact SUV segment we have just entered and this question was coming from the market and from the experts and from all the media friends like you that why Maruti is not there in SUV. We entered this market with a big bang and today we have the market leadership position already in SUV and we have sold more than 50,000 units of Brezza.

Apart from this, two models, which we have declared already one is Ignis, other is Baleno RS will be coming which is a high performance compact engine, it is a turbocharged engine. Globally the trend is moving towards turbocharged the compact engine, which give more power and more performance.

Apart from this we have about 15 models in the pipeline, which will be coming up to 2020

Does this hold good for the Baleno RS as well?

Drive on,

Well frankly the dual camera auto braking system might turn out to be more of a bane than a boon in India.

At least considering peak traffic in Bangalore where at times you can be driving in bumper to bumper traffic at 5 kmph with 5 cars sharing a 3 lane road.

Unless it can be disabled or has a built in feature where it does not trigger the brake if you are traveling below a certain speed.

The 50-50 split in rear seat with sliding feature is optional. With this the rear seating capacity is 4. Without this feature the seating capacity is 5.

GaadiWaadi has posted an exclusive gallery of pictures of the Ignis, supposedly in it's Hybrid avatar:

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

The Ritz when it was launched and the Ignis as it is being launched - the feeling I get is the same, as in the first impression of the design.

Maybe this too will grow on us over time, just like Ritz.

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

Why is the gear shifter housing in a very prominent orange shade on a silky silver coloured car? I would have preferred to have that in regular grey, or if the designers wanted to bring in some excitement, then body coloured plastics and maybe body coloured rings on the AC vents would have been better. Hoping this is for the prototype car only...

I think even the door handles are colored in orange, having seen some review videos. Since those were the videos shot in Japan, this is going to be same across all global models I believe.

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

Hardly any reviews of Ignis, but here is one from Pakistan ( the same where Gaadiwaadi has taken the pics from)

Here are highlights of the drive in Lahore roads, ( 18-24 km/l, -Suzuki Ignis Hybrid is equipped with a 1242cc DOHC)
The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis-suzukiignishybrid201627.jpg

Quote:
Ignis passes the drive test with flying colors. Right from standstill, it is smooth as silk in drive and acceleration. Engine sound is almost non-existent at lower RPM and even in throttle very pleasing mild roar is there. Extremely quiet engine restarts after idling (due to Integrated Starter Generator) makes the whole drive experience absolutely sublime. Motor assist surprises you with the added torque. Switch to “Sports Drive Mode” and it’s really nimble and swift and comparable to 1.5L gasoline counterparts. Road grip and handling around corners has nothing to complain about, in fact surprisingly good for a sub-compact crossover. Traction control is there but personally I found the drive and handling to be better with it turned off as there was occasional under steer with default mode traction on. High speed stability is comparable to heavier vehicles and ring road test run in Lahore was a joy to experience. It has a very quiet cabin due to excellent sound proofing, again a hallmark of modern JDM’s. At 120kmph, I couldn’t hear any road or outside noise. Suspension feels ideally tuned for the design it has, though it is softer than Vezel yet slightly stiffer than hatchbacks and sedans which is understandable for its design category. The sleek beams on driver’s sides are very well placed and limit the issue of blind spots very efficiently. Rear view visibility is excellent. Anti-Lock Brakes with EBD do their job as they should and make you feel completely in control of the machine. Air con performance is powerful.

Looks like an Android AVN player. If that's standard on Ignis it would be absolutely wonderful.

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

Is Suzuki's upcoming Ignis going to be one of the most fuel efficient cars in India?

Quote:
Designed as an SUV crossover the car stands to be unique amongst all the upcoming car launches. It has the same K series 1.2-litre engine as that of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the company claims to deliver 22 kmpl of mileage with the petrol variant and 29kmpl with the 1.3 liter diesel variant

Re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

A wrap-around rear glass would have made the Ignis much better, and reducing the bulk of metal in C-pillar, IMO.
