VW Vento facelift spied sans camouflage in India

Mod Note: Our VW Vento Facelift Report has been taken live at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the new thread. Thanks!

Vento ( Polo sedan) facelift now in India. Chakan plant exports Vento to many countries including South Africa, where it is sold as the Polo sedan. The model year update is due to be launched in South Africa as well, and this test mule could be one such.

Evident exterior changes - The Vento facelift will get new LED tail lamps, has the same two-slate chrome grille and not 3 as the Russian spied one, New alloys, Chrome strip on the boot, visible exhaust tail pipe and hence cut on the rear bumper .

re: Volkswagen Vento facelift spied in Russia

I like the subtle changes but my only worry for VW is that the changes are too little and a bit too late to help VW go through another 2 years in India. The next generation Vento must be brought into India the day it is revealed for overseas markets in 2016. I hope VW isn't planning a 2018 launch !!

Re: Volkswagen Vento facelift spied in Russia

Vento facelift - testing in India.

Quote:
Vento facelift gets a new set of tail lamps and then there is a minor change at the front too. The front looks sleek and could be be similar to the Vento that was spotted in Russia. Volkswagen has been testing the Vento and the compact sedan, however the Vento should be launched before that. The compact sedan as it is called the ICS Project (Indian compact sedan) should be launched in 2016.
There should be some minor updates on the inside too. The Vento petrol will get 1.6-litre petrol (with five-speed manual) and 1.2-litre turbo petrol with seven-speed automatic; while the diesel will be the 1.5-litre with five-speed manual and seven-speed automatic transmission. Some new additional features could be seen on the Vento, but not multiple.

The new version of the Vento has DRLs (daytime running LEDs). There are also some minor changes to the headlamp and there will be a new front grille to differentiate it from the Polo. The Vento’s rear will also get a new set of LED tail lamps.

Quote:
On the inside too, expect some additional features as well, as it seems that the German car maker will be introducing some new features on the Vento. Volkswagen Vento facelift is due to be launched by mid-2015 and these will major cosmetic upgrades on the sedan.

Re: Volkswagen Vento facelift spied in Russia

While it is good to see these changes, I wonder if these face-lifts will help drastically increase sales in any way. It is a good looking car, solidly built, has most of the nice to have features, probably has the best combination of engine and transmission options and is competitively priced. Guess it is all about the perception of the brand, which is negative due to the dealer and after sales experiences. Face lifts and new models are not going to change that.

The marketing guys at VW must be banging their heads in frustration.

Re: Volkswagen Vento facelift spied in Russia

I would hope that VW would know that these changes will not make consumers buy a Vento. It still looks the same and does the same.

They need to look at how City,Verna and Ciaz have arrived with major changes.

Now spied undisguised!

Quote:
Vento facelift gets cosmetic upgrades with the most prominent being the new Jetta-like front fascia that features a three-slat chrome grille with the company logo resting in the centre, whereas the bumper has been updated with redesigned fog lamps. There are no changes to the side profile on the Vento facelift but the rear gets mild tweaks to the boot-lid along with a new bumper. The tail lights have been reportedly updated to LEDs.

Re: Volkswagen Vento facelift spied in Russia

How much longer are they going to flog this 2009 Mk5 Polo design which looks absolutely boring? Now I'm going to hear stuff like "timeless design" and "never grows old". If I'm not wrong the first nip & tuck was headlight blackening, then followed by minor interior tweaks & presently very subtle changes to upper & lower grill. This cannot even be called a facelift.

Its gotten to the point where VW has lost all its styling credentials, Skoda, Audi, VW etc all look like each other. Whatever happened to styling like :

The Mk5 Jetta, or

The Mk6 Golf

Its been over 7 years since the all-straight-lines platform sharing Mk5 Polo's design has been transferred to every other higher end model in the group. What next merely change the badges to create differentiation?

Re: Volkswagen Vento facelift spied in Russia

That toffee brown shade Skoda behind the Vento looks like a Rapid (Fabia = discontinued in India) but it has the indicators integrated on the wing mirrors.

The current generation Rapid facelift has the square'ish indicators on the side fenders. So this looks like a silent upgrade in the works along with something else?

VW Vento facelift spied sans camouflage in India

The Volkswagen Vento facelift has been spied on many occasions. Going by the images seen so far, the car will receive a minor list of alterations to make for minimal changes that are enough to differentiate it from the current model. The car has now been spotted without any camouflage, giving us a better idea of the updates to expect.

The updated Vento will feature a new two slat chrome front grille, tweaked fog lamp enclosures and a more Jetta like fascia to increase its appeal. While the side profile remains the same, the rear bumper and boot-lid have been revised, and the tail lights are expected to make the use of LEDs.

The updates are likely to be only cosmetic in nature, with the mechanicals remaining the same. The interiors are likely to be carried over from the refreshed version that was launched in September, 2014.

Re: VW Vento facelift spied sans camouflage in India

I quite liked the new two slat front grill. Gives the front more character. And LED tail lamps would be a nice welcome addition.
Any news when this might be launched?

Re: VW Vento facelift spied sans camouflage in India

The Vento probably is the most face-lifted car in recent years. In its 5 years of existence it has got a minimum of one update (or more?) per year. I feel it's almost time for a generation change rather than these small cosmetic corrections.

Re: VW Vento facelift spied sans camouflage in India

Isn't the image showing the current version with 2 slat grill with the current fog lamp design? I thought the facelift has a triple grill with a more in line fog lamp design with the fascia.
The interiors have been dated for quiet sometime and with a lot of emphasis on contemporary design by competitors, isn't Vento loosing it out? I hope they remain relevant to their 'Peoples car' image.

Re: VW Vento facelift spied sans camouflage in India

Apologies for this negative vibe. I don't think any number of face-lift/ upgrades are going to help Volkswagen to increase their numbers. Last year upgrade was a dud and the monthly sales chart stands testimony to the fact. Compared to New City and Ciaz, Vento looks totally outdated

High time Volkswagen decides to bring in new products to India to take on the competition
