Re: Mahindra XUV500 facelift revealed in spy shots EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 11.21 lakh

Dear Fellow BHPians,

Booked my W6 Silver (the only other color of contention in my mind currently is Red) at Anant Motors, Mysore road.

I was dillydallying between W4 and W6 but finally decided on the W6. The deal breaker for me on W4 was again the interiors. In the earlier version W4 had a tacky plastic dashboard, although the dashboard of W4 is similar to W6 now a close look will tell you the plastic in the center console, door handles of W4 is a little tacky. End of day i did not want to sit there regretting my decision after paying 15L.

OTR W6 - 15.57 L (of which insurance is ~53,000. I am hoping I will be able to reduce this by getting my insurance done outside)

I will be much obliged getting all your suggestions for the below.

1. Alloys - Should I go for it right away or hold on till about a year or so? Where in Bangalore can I get good alloys for XUV. Does any shop buy the stock steel rims for exchange? The showroom doesn't. If I do change, I plan to keep it to Mahindra stated P235/65 R17. W6 does not have tyre-tronics, anything else I need to worry about getting alloys from out?

2. Reverse parking camera - there are 2 options. One with the display on the IRVM and the other display is dash mounted. The dash mounted reverse parking display also comes integrated with map my india GPS and costs ~21K. The SA mentioned the maps and software will be updated by Mahindra service whenever needed. Thoughts/Suggestions?

3. Leather upholstery - Probably after a year is what I am thinking. Any suggestions here?

The other accessories I am contemplating on are Fog lamps, Side steps, Rear guard(still not sure, the look is degraded with the rear guard), body cover since I do not have a covered parking area. Any other suggestions?

Thanks Guys!

The one with the chrome ribs in the front grill is the W6 and the one with black is W4. I missed taking the interior pictures but my description above should help. I was in for W4 till yesterday and upgraded to W6 today

Congratulations Prashant A good decision to book a W6 version instead of the W4, I am sure you will not repent on this decision, otherwise you would have IMO after buying a W4. And silver would be the apt color since you don't have a covered parking area.

I would suggest you buy an insurance from outside and you should get a zero depreciation insurance for around 35K outside. 53K for W6 is too much IMO, because when I enquired for W8 it was around 40K for 0 depreciation insurance.

I would suggest go for the alloys now itself. Here is the contact for the alloys,

HERCULES TYRES
Address : # 215, Link Road, Opp Government School, Seshadipuram, Bangalore - 20
Mr. Saravana
Mob : 09008500085, 09448179901
email : herculestyresbangalore@yahoo.com

And if you get it from outside, it will be little difficult to find a 7J alloy for XUV instead you have different options for 8J alloys. Even if you get it you might not like the design.

If money permits, then you can go ahead with the dash mounted display with GPS else the display on IRVM should suffice.

Fabric seats should be good enough and if possible try to get some elegant fabric seat covers which will be very comfortable.

And on accessories, I personally feel rear guard will definitely take away the looks of the car, even I dint opt for it mainly for the looks. Side steps and fog lamps will add to the character of the car. Body cover is a must if the parking is not covered.

Hope this helps:-)

@prash, my dealer is already giving me a discount of 40% on insurance premium on the new age xuv. Please check with yours and if he is adamant, take a quote from outside. I have been quoted 32k for comprehensive and 37.5k for bumper to bumber zero Dep. You can easily save upto 20-25k on the same.

Is there a considerable difference between the older version and new age one or is it a perceived one? I am talking in terms of suspension, driving dynamics and quality of interiors. Someone who has driven both please reply as a discount on 2015 manufactured older version is about 1 lac which does give me an opportunity to buy a W6 with enough after market accessories at a much lesser price.

Congrats on your purchase.

Can you please post some pics of interior, dashbord and seats? There are hardly any information about the interior quality of w4. Please give your comments.

Congratulations! Wishing you a many safe miles ahead.

I booked in Anant Motors, Mysore Road. The SA specifically talked about dash mounted reverse parking display with mapmyindia GPS. I am just wondering why would it be different for the facelift. How does it make a difference.
These are not Mahindra Genuine Accessories but are Mahindra Authorized Accessories.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 facelift revealed in spy shots EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 11.21 lakh

Uploading the new W6 my cousin got last Saturday.
Two things I noted on the new XUV 5OO

1. Compared to my 2012 - W8 the gearshift/gear lever has drastically improved here. With a gear lever that feels shorter and also the shift has become a lot car like - almost similar to my ecosport.

2. The Stunning new alloy wheels, unlike the earlier black and silver alloy wheels which they offered for older W6/W4 the new one is just a silver one with black taken out.

Though I still felt the alloy a lot less stronger than the one offered from W8 (visually). After the images of broken alloys.

Congratulations to your cousin Peterjim13, glad to hear that M&M is keen on making its new customers happy. Isn't it strange that tuscan red colour looks so different inside the showroom with its lights & on-the-road in reality. Nevertheless, happy mile munching

My replies in bold.

Can you please elaborate more on this, i thought all the models share the same interiors now.

1. Alloys - Should I go for it right away or hold on till about a year or so?

I think you should get them right away if you have the funds, XUV looks kinda plane jane without alloys. Stock alloys suit the best but you have lots of options in the aftermarket category.

2. Reverse parking camera - there are 2 options. One with the display on the IRVM and the other display is dash mounted. If you really need the GPS system then go for it otherwise the IRVM camera will be good enough imo.

3. Leather upholstery - Probably after a year is what I am thinking. Any suggestions here?

That will be better as by that time the beige fabric will get quite dirty so a change in seat covers will take care of it, that's what we did with our Rapid.

The other accessories I am contemplating on are Fog lamps, Side steps, Rear guard(still not sure, the look is degraded with the rear guard), body cover since I do not have a covered parking area. Any other suggestions?

Fog lamps are a must ! But are they available with the dealers or in accessory shops yet ?
Side steps are necessary if you have elders/kids at home.
Please avoid the rear guard, will spoil the whole look. No offence but i don`t get it why people think front/rear guards are necessary on SUV`s.

Query - Did you see the wheel covers ? If yes then are they similar to the old covers or newly designed ?

.
They new all silver design looks great ! I would prefer these to the ones they are giving with the W8/10 models.

@peterjim13, can you please upload the front shot and an interior one as well? I need to see how w6 looks without the foglamps. Fog lamps are not yet available with the showrooms. But they will be coming soon I guess.

The wheel covers are the same old design which Mahindra used to offer earlier.

You can refer to my earlier post here and here for the looks of a W6 model without fog lamps and for interior.

The dashboard is pretty much the same with all the chrome inserts on the AC knob except for 2 chrome inserts near the hazard light switch. As the centre console flows down, the texture/color of the cup holder, arm rest, hand brake is different.
The USB slot and 12V socket is embedded inside and left open without a covering in W4
The door handles have a different texture/color as well.

Fog lamps are not yet available, as per the SA it will be available in 2 weeks.

Wheel covers are the same.

I had done some alloy-shopping when i almost zeroed in on previous gen XUV, but later decided to wait for the facelift the best i could find was from plati alloys. model no. 702. The link for which is http://platiindia.com/py-702-01. But the only negative aspect was the tyres will bulge out a bit.
