Congratulations buddy for your white Kicks.

I also bought a Petrol Kicks XL variant in the month of April this year. Sharing a picture of my Kicks which I like most.

Friends, I am facing an abnormal issue with my Kicks so started a new thread under Technical Stuff, the link is:

Did you face any such issue in your ownership?

Re: The Nissan Kicks Crossover. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 9.55 lakhs

I have clocked about 4700 kilometers in my Nissan Kicks (Petrol). I drove Kicks on highways on the route like Delhi-Ludhiana-Delhi, Delhi-Mathura-Delhi, and Delhi-Mussoorie-Delhi. I would agree with others on ride comfort, however, the car bounces a bit on few flyover expansion joints at high speed. Has anyone noticed anything similar?

The petrol engine is slow in 1st and 2nd gear, but have good power 3rd gear onwards. I am currently changing gears at 2500 rpm which helps in overtaking in traffic. Car is comfortable in triple digits, however, at speed north of 120 kmph, engine sound increases.

On highways, I am getting a fuel economy of about 12kmpl. In the city, I am getting fuel economy of 11-11.2 kmpl which mostly includes office commute from Delhi to Gurgaon. Also, I wanted to ask what tyre pressure is recommended?

The range observed by Autocar is astonishing. On a full tank, the diesel kicks delivered a range of well over 1000 kms! This is a mix of mostly highway driving at a brisk pace of 90-115 kph and some city driving included as well. Apparently the fuel tank is much bigger than it he advertised 50 litres and closer to 65 litres.

It has been the case since the duster .
Most owners know that it gulps in 50L till auto cutoff and upto 65L when filled with enthusiasm.

I made my previous tank full up to the brim level and it gulped 65 liters . The fuel gauge needle was in the mid of the red level reserve.

Re: The Nissan Kicks Crossover. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 9.55 lakhs

Can some one tell what is the round black device ?
The mesh is probably the mic? If so wondering what would black round object be?

Also there is a dummy slot between airbag display and light switch controls.

Good morning jeganatu,

The one you are referring to is the cabin temperature sensor and primarily used by the climate control system when used in auto mode. You must have observed that if you put the climate control in auto mode, and set the temperature gauge to min let's say at 18 degrees, the blower speed reaches the maximum (depending upon the current temperature).

And as the temperature inside the cabin decreases, the fan speed also decreases. So this sensor constantly keeps sending the temperature data to the system and the system depending upon the received inputs decides the next course of action.

I hope, I am able to clarify?

Re: The Nissan Kicks Crossover. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 9.55 lakhs

Hello All,

I'm considering kicks to exchange my 5.9 yrs old Ecosport. I did a test drive in city (no offroading though) and felt few points comparing Ecosport.

1. The brake quality is sluggish comparing to Ecosport, Is this the case with new cars ? (i am not sure how the test vehicle was maintained)

2. The steering is Electro-hydraulic which means a tight feel in low speeds. Is the handling on Ghats are good with this steering ?

Or any other issues faced by any of the owners ?

Can someone throw light on the service cost and interval too ? I heard its every 10k which is normal in nowadays, but how much we have to spend in service (for Diesel).

Thanks in advance

I have not driven Ecosport so I will not comment but test drove Kia Seltos some weeks back. Seltos definitely has better braking as compared to my Kicks but for me it's adequate.

Yes, you are correct, the steering feels a bit stiff at low speed but manageable. Had done 2 trips in the last 7 months which had ghats (Pune-Mumbai) but never felt nervous. In fact, after upgrading to a lighter set of alloys, it does not fret and has become a sort of easy, acceleration has improved in 1st & 2nd gear.

Btw mine is a petrol XL model and didn't face any major problems so far. There was an issue which cropped up some weeks back; car pulling to the left. The service center diagnosed that stock Apollo tires had some problems so they replaced the defective tires with new Bridgestone tires (all 5) under warranty.

But keep your options open as heard some time back that Nissan may launch an automatic version of Kicks also.

Ecosport is a light car, its obvious that breaking will be sharp. Whereas the Kicks is little bigger car having long wheel base and can be compared to creta or seltos and its breaking is adequate at all means.

2. The steering is Electro-hydraulic which means a tight feel in low speeds. Is the handling on Ghats are good with this steering ?

Having driven my kicks diesel 16k Kms 95% on HW (twice Kodaikanal Ghat trips), kicks feels comfortable to drive at ghat. Never felt hard at taking corners nor hairpin bends. At low speeds the steering is stiff, Yes! but it does not hinder you driving through the city traffic as the car feel rock solid at low speed with no engine/clutch knocking even at 3rd gear. But if you like a soft steering, then hyundai creta or H-wrv would be the choice for you.

At highway, kicks is a mad car, feels real solid to drive and you can take the car confidently to 160kmps with ease. While those cars having soft steering, pass 130 kmps, you need to be bit careful with it as the steering response will be too quick from the wheels.

3.Or any other issues faced by any of the owners ?
During my both Kodaikanal trips, one of the trumpet horn failed to honk several times, similar to our ears getting blocked at high altitude and low temperature combined. It was so weird that it vanished as soon as I started driving down-hill .
There is no complaint as of now.

4.Can someone throw light on the service cost and interval too ? I heard its every 10k which is normal in nowadays, but how much we have to spend in service (for Diesel).

Since I booked during launch, I got 3 years zero maintenance package an offer, and I took 4th and 5th (40k and 50k service) year service pre paid at 23k which would actually work out to some 28k. I also took 4th and 5th year ext. warranty at 13.5k, which is now offered by default.

check here https://www.nissan.in/vehicles/new/k...cks_offer.html.

Its better you directly check with showroom for mandatory service cost along with parts to be changed as per schedule upto 5 year.

Currently there is a 3 or 5 year maintenance package on offer at 26k and 62k resp. for diesel, check with your dealer, this which answers your question.

My 2 cents for KICKs:

If you want to stay away from crowd, go ahead,
If you are comfortable with brand Nissan and service is accessible near you, go ahead.
If you like the car by heart, go ahead.

Re: The Nissan Kicks Crossover. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 9.55 lakhs

Maybe it's too late for the car maker attempting to revive the product, competitive pricing at the time of launch could have given better results.

December offer, avail benefits of 1.10 Lacs + assured gift worth 1 crore
NISSAN KICKS RED WEEKEND

It would be a collective 1 Crore gifts. A very capable SUV but won't stand a chance with Seltos, Creta, Harrier and Hector.

Looks good in red but nothing close to Red Compass or the black edition Harrier.

EcoSport is not a light car by any means. It weighs about 1314 whereas Kicks weighs about 1385 and Creta is below 1300 (Kerb weights in kgs for Diesel variants). The braking on EcoSport itself is not that great, it lacks good stopping power due to its weight and could've come with better initial bite in them.
