My understanding is that the Patrol would have been exempt from homologation (even without the recent 2,500 CBU per OEM ruling) as it had a petrol engine with displacement greater than 3L, and in a relatively loaded variant was worth more than 40k USD (FOB value), much like a LC200 or M/AMG car.

Maybe re-evaluated for launch in India, but I don't think reason is recent relaxation in homologation requirements.

I'm surprised no one here talks about the Qashqai; it's pretty popular in Europe from what I saw. It could have been Creta/Seltos competitor.

As far as I know, atleast in the UK, the Qashqai competes with the Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage and Mazda CX5.

It’s a size bigger than the Seltos/Creta.

Re: Rumour: Nissan Patrol SUV coming to India

Guys, apart from "Nissan" Prefix, there is nothing common between Patrol & Qashqai. So let’s keep the thread uncluttered.

Nissan would have been a different company if they had kept their offerings refreshed here. But I won’t fault them entirely, India is a very different market. Everyone needs an anchor CKD model at least to stay in business. Nissan should have invested much more many years ago.

I don’t think; any new CBU launches will do any good for them now.

Good move I say. Now they can at least compete with Toyota. Right now for Nissan, competition is nil. If this clicks Nissan can bring in its splendid rides to compete to the likes of Velfire, Carnival etc. At least they wouldn't quit Indian market. It's really sad seeing brands closing shops and leaving.

With this pricing, it is as good as dead even before arrival, not to mention the horrible looks! For me, and I am sure many of us, the legendary Patrol will continue to be what it was in its earlier generations...

Re: Rumour: Nissan Patrol SUV coming to India

I don't know how true this is, a local newspaper has reported Nissan will be launching Patrol in India soon. this seem to have been communicated by Rakesh Shrivastav.
