How so ever good the car is, I have my doubts that this will come to India. The economics almost always don't seem to work for such cars for India

I would prefer the Fabia Combi, may be with an RS variant as well! There won't be anything like that south of 20L and can be immensely practical too.

No question of any more premium hatches coming to India unless as CBU like the Golf. This entire segment is being totally replaced by crossovers like the Karoq, T-Roc, Kamiq, T-Cross etc.

Our market largely is not mature enough for the 'Hot Hatch'. And we have never taken to the Combi or Station Wagon concept despite it being such a fantastic and practical alternative to a sedan/SUV.

We still have an 'ego' thing with sedans and SUV's.

And nor is our infra ready to handle the performance that these vehicles are capable of.

Clearly runaway success of Sedans are because of the boot and the SUV and CrossOver category is successful largely because of space, ground clearance and commanding view of the road ahead.

But there is a sort of 'small scale underground' reverse movement which has begun, in a diametrically opposite direction, in favour of the 'hatchback', on account of road space and parking space constraints.

It would indeed be good if we could get the Polo GTi, Golf GTi, New Fabia RS, Fabia Combi and similar.

But I believe this is likely to remain a pipedream.
Considering that despite the marked preference for SUV's the Maruti chaps arent giving us the new Jimny!

Next Gen. Skoda FABIA coming in 2021.



Will rival the competitors from France, Japan and South Korea that are already established in this segment.

The new supermini of the Czech brand will move to the MQB platform, which is the basis of the Volkswagen Polo and SEAT Ibiza, as well as the more expensive Audi A1.

The use of this architecture means that the engine range will consist of 3-cylinder petrol engines.
No diesel planned for this segment following the reveal from the group's strategy.

There will be a version with a soft hybrid system, and the gearboxes will be 5- and 6-speed, as well as automatic with 7 gears and dual clutch.

The next generation Fabia is expected to be larger and more spacious than its competitors, even in those of the Volkswagen Group.

It looks like a Volkswagen Polo, because this first Fabia is cloaked entirely in Polo bodywork. Our spy photographers are adamant it is not a Polo facelift, though - it’s too early for an updated Polo, the Czech plates are a giveaway, and it was spied as part of a convoy of other Skoda vehicles.

All-new Skoda Fabia due in 2021, moving to MQB A0 platform, all round improvements but with no electrification.

- it will be revealed in the first half of next year, with first examples expected to arrive in Europe well before the end of 2021.

As for styling, sources suggest a greater leap than the Fabia made between its second and third generations. Inspiration will come from the linked Kamiq crossover in particular, plus design elements and details from the Scala and Octavia.

Despite wider group plans, the Fabia won’t offer any form of electrification initially – not even mild-hybrid engines.

the new Fabia’s engines will be familiar, albeit now without any diesels. The turbocharged three-cylinder petrol TSI will sit at the heart of the range in varying power outputs, while more powerful four-cylinder engines (and a cheaper naturally aspirated three-pot) could also be used.

Škoda has not yet confirmed when the successor of the small car will be officially introduced, but because more and more test prototypes are appearing on Czech motorways and roads, the wait may not be long.

Fabia seems wider and more mature than the current generation. At the same time, the interior can be seen at least in part in his shots, where we should see the same concept as with the Scala or Kamiq. The new Skoda Fabia makes the transition to the MQB A0 platform at its generation-change, which has been used by many of the Volkswagen Group's compact hatchbacks and crossovers for years.

Smaller than Skoda Scala, the Fabia will soon be about 4.05 meters long (wheelbase, 2.55 meters).

Although the Polo body of the Skoda Fabia was rather fine given the corresponding technology, the compact Skoda really gets a completely own body. Skoda seems to stick to the sharp-lined C-pillar and the ascending window line at the rear door, although the upward line is less noticeable than with the current model. The Fabia gets a typical Skoda muzzle with a more upright grille and headlamps placed above it to some extent. The rear lights of the Fabia, they are now copies with LED technology, from now on also run through the tailgate.

This is disappointing as fabia was good car and ahead of its time. The quality was good enough. They SHOULD launch this in India. People are open for quality hatchbacks and are also ready to pay more which in those times were not keen.
