If i remember correctly, they were looking to launch this vehicle an year ago but GM India turn down the proposal because of not having proper paint booth. Per GM India cost for setting up a paint booth wasn't 'feasible'

I would say that was the best opportunity for GM to Launch it. That's when customers started realizing cons of Fortuner - ride quality, lack of features & value for money factor. Till then Fortuner was the 'default choice' in its class.

Mitsubishi launched Pajero sport last year and managed to get 200 units monthly. Ignoring the fact that it was competing with Toyota's bullet proof reliability with below average Mitsubishi A.S.S.

On my trip to Delhi, I could snap these shots of Chevrolet Trailblazer.
It was just at the end of Mathura Road ( but I am not sure of exact location ).

I have seen the same vehicle in Pune and the first impressions are that this is in no way a competitor to Fortuner. The size of the car is smaller which gives it less bulkiness. The public which buys the fortuner which IMHO is mostly for its style and buky statement will not look at this as an option. The only bette part as of now it seems is the interior which again is subjective

The Trailblazer is actually slightly bigger than the latest Thai Fortuner per the dimensions (these are from their respective Thailand sites):

In my opinion, folks buy the Fortuner for its reliability mainly and the resulting great resale value. Everything else is overlooked.

Today morning couldn't have been better! On way to work, saw this new SUV being tested in New Delhi. I'm not really sure which new SUV it is, from the looks of it seems like Next Generation Ford Endeavour but seemed quite small compared to the current one. Or could be the new Toyota Fortuner! But here are the pics for the SUV

Alloys remind me of Toyota, but the front reminded of FORD so not quite sure!

What do you guys think which SUV is it!

Spotted Chevy Trailblazer on NH-8. Unfortunately couldn't take pics from the front.

The car looked to have decent road presence however i wouldn't call it a monster size suv. It appeared to have certain compactness in its silhouette.

The Trailblazer is a 7-seater, body-on-frame SUV. It is 4,878mm in length, 1,902mm in width, 1,834 in height, and boasts of a 2,870mm wheelbase. The Chevrolet Trailblazer will be powered by an all-new 2.8-litre Duramax turbo-diesel, in-line 4 cylinder engine. This powerplant develops 200 hp at 3600 rpm, while maximum torque is rated at 500 Nm at 2000 rpm. Transmission options will include a 6-speed automatic, apart from a 6-speed manual. Top spec variants will get a four-wheel drive option.

Some of the features offered on the Chevrolet Trailblazer include projector headlights, LED tail lamps, and 18-inch alloy wheels, leather seat upholstery, steering-mounted audio & telephony controls, automatic climate control, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. Safety nets include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, and Electronic Stability Control. The Trailblazer will reportedly be imported to India from Thailand as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).

I just watched the ACI review of this car and shocked to see that they are bringing this as a CBU. Was the current Captiva, which this will effectively be replacing, a CBU? I fail to understand how will they price it competitively specially w.r.t. the Fortuner if they opt for the CBU route. Chevrolet has anyways lost a lot of ground as a brand in India. I hope they do not kill this car right from the launch with an over zealous price tag.
