Re: Behind the Scenes: How Press & Media Drives Work

Just learned of this very recently. Sometimes, the manufacturer will intentionally showcase the car well in advance of the launch. Why? Because, if its design is unconventional, the OEM doesn't want customers to face a shock in the showroom.

Apparently, the XUV500 leak (from the factory) was planned by its maker. Its face was so weird that I didn't even believe that to be the final spec.

Also remember how the funky EcoSport was showcased so much in advance. The EcoSport might be normal today, but in 2013, it was very concept-car like.

The new normal! Before you drive a media car, spend 1 hour sanitising it , wiping all touch points and areas clean.

Hi, sorry if this is not the right thread, please move it out if it's off topic.

Where exactly in MH is this mesmerizingly beautiful place?

And then at 8:41.

Thanks!

Can't recognize it - but without exaggeration, pretty much any place in the Western Ghats looks exactly like this during the start of the monsoons!

Eg. The media-favourite shoot location of Aamby Valley road (near Lonavala) has a lot of fields/patches just like this adjoining the road.

Re: Behind the Scenes: How Press & Media Drives Work

We had an epiphany! Just realised that the short Honda City review has enough information to make a purchase decision.

So, we're planning to do more of these kind of reviews. Reason? Some cars (Nissan Kicks, Grand i10 Nios and more) were skipped because we just didn't have the bandwidth for them. But instead of skipping the car entirely, we can at least put in a short, unbiased review with likes + dislikes + some more pictures so it helps people make an informed decision.

After all, who else does brutally neutral + accurate reviews in India? If not a full Official Review, we can put in a summary review (this is preferred over not reviewing the car at all).

@GTO

Fully support your new initiative re short reviews.

This will be faster, yet honest, crisp & useful as ever.

Perfect! This is a great move

It was quite odd to not have an Official Review for some cars available in the market.

Great decision You are absolutely correct that having a summary review is better than not having any review at all. Team BHP summary reviews also have much more insights into the car than some full blown reviews elsewhere! The value offered by the reviewers in that short review is unmatched.

Great decision. Not only for the not so popular, minor face-lift cars. For the high profile launches which have a huge initial demand, there are lot of customers eagerly waiting for the Team-Bhp review to make sure they are not making any mistake. Such customers do not need the full review but a short but 'official' review to make up their minds.

What a great move. Must say we should make this a practice at least in such cases where manufacturers only do very minor bumper change kind of facelift jobs (say Maruti Car facelifts) or when they bring changes only in the engine/gearbox department (say Rapid) without any other cosmetic changes.

An official Review should only be reserved for Newly introduced Cars which irrespective of sales nos always deserves a proper review or a full blown facelift (say Nexon 2020).

Great thought GTO and team! These can be just your/teams observations about most critical and essential enough points to sustain/junk the car buying decision. Pictures (if need be) can be added by the team later on, else BHPians will gladly step in

GTO & all mods, this a wonderful idea. I am completely in support of having crisp and short reviews for models which an evolution rather than a revolution.

I was also wondering - Why don't we have reviews on YouTube too? (I'm pretty new so I don't have any idea about why T-BHP doesn't have any reviews.) I'd be glad to help in filming and photography for any launch in and around Pune too!

Another suggestion for the reviews, whenever possible can you cover some of the popular or nearest competitors and how the new car stands against them?

This is covered in most of the Team-BHP reviews. However please include some more comparisons in detail - engine & transmission performance, ride, handling and maybe the interior space. Maybe a quick test drive of the competitor while you are reviewing the new car.

I really like the images where you capture the outgoing model or competitor side by side with the new car.

You know you are a car reviewer when your paired device list looks like:

Great decision. However, if you could please ensure these shorter reviews are filed in the official reviews section (since they are for all practical purposes) then it would be very helpful. Right now the review of the new City doesn't seem to show up in the reviews section. I tried searching using the "entire post" and "title only" option but it's just the 2013 review that shows up.
