Mahindrs seems to have taken the 7 vertical slats as their grill code, the way BMW has the Kidney grill.
So they may reduce overstyling elsewhere, but the grill will not be a plain one.

You I think must be the first one to NOT want the paw handles on the outside! They are liked by everyone and are said to be a pleasure to use with perfect ergonomics.

Or you are referring to the inside door handles? I found them to be very good too...

Re: Updated Mahindra XUV5OO caught testing?

I will seriously consider an XUV if they:

1. tone down their front design
2. improve the plastic quality of their interiors - especially dash board and doors etc
3. Increase the length by at least 10 cm to give some sort of storage space - not sure if they will be able to achieve that otherwise, without seriously compromising legroom.

I know most of these may not happen in the upcoming refresh, but then one can always hope!! :-)

True that. If not the whole face atleast those hideous whiskers at front.

Re: Updated Mahindra XUV5OO caught testing?

i spotted this car earlier this month near chennai dd station. As discussed here the alloywheels were covered but if im not mistaken it was a left hand drive. And the place where i saw it, was very close to port. may be it was on the way to India Garage mount road. i just got a glimpse of the dashboard and it was similar to what we have. unfortunately i couldn't take pictures of it. and forgive me if im wrong.

Or is it for the export market? M&M is entering the Philippines market with the XUV and the new scorpio. Will this be for that purpose?

Alloy wheels on the one I saw were not covered, but LHD is a possibility as I was too keen to look at exterior changes. Thanks for the inputs

Re: Updated Mahindra XUV5OO caught testing?

Its always a mystery.....the design dept of M&M. For starters the hippo/rhino sized XUV is touted as a cheetah A fully wasted inspiration drawing trip to africa to see cheetas in the wild...happy they didnt run over some cheetas in the bargain. Even the customization dept is rage in itself

Re: Updated Mahindra XUV5OO caught testing?

From the talks I have seen, VIN 15 XUV's might have a change in alloy wheel design, might and for sure they are skipping the 5th wheel as alloy. It will be a steel wheel.

Re: Updated Mahindra XUV5OO caught testing?

Hoping for a sliding second row and for captain seats too. I am pitching it to my sister as a replacement for their 7 year old Innova. Only constraint is the less space in the third row as it will be used as occasionaly 7 seater for long trips.

A Mahindra will not be the same without the slatted signature Jeep(ish) grill. Hoping for some toned down front and less of the theatre like lighting inside.

Completey agree with the points you have listed, though in my opinion, black color manages to hide those whiskers and faux air vents to a great extent.
Plastic quality is pathetic to say the least, I dont understand why Mahindra is trying to save a few bucks here. Being in the auto industry, I know its not that big a deal for an auto major to pressurize a vendor into improving his part quality.

Re: Updated Mahindra XUV5OO caught testing?

Hope they have improved the driver footwell & dashboard crash performance. This had been adversly commented upon by the Australian NCAP. This is the only NCAP test on the XUV 500.

Had tweeted re this to Anand mahindra & sent a couple of emails to their customer relationship desk. No information on whether they planned any improvements.
