Headlamp housings have integrated projectors & sleek looking turn indicators:

Foglamp casing in chrome. The honeycomb bumper casing looks swell:

Both shiny and plain black on the ORVMs, with integrated blinkers:

Exceptionally good alloy wheel design:

Lovely tail lamp design. Easily the best of the segment:

Boot space is pegged at a massive 420 liters! Makes the Volkswagen Ameo's 330L boot seem puny in comparison.

re: Tata Tiago-based compact sedan. EDIT: Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016!

Sway looks quite good. A little nearer to Zest in profile. Rear too resembles Zest's on first look but is quite differentiated and well designed.

It may impact Zest's sales - not that they are exactly blazing.

If Zest's build quality, NVH levels and suspension setup are anything to go by, Tata have a winner.

Any tentative launch date?

re: Tata Tiago-based compact sedan. EDIT: Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016!

Looks wonderful and very much like the Prima luxury sedan that was discussed long back. On this t-bhp thread

The design is getting better and i wish these happened five years back, better late than never I also have a hunch that the original Prima luxury sedan might come back depending on how successful the new launches are.

Looks absolutely gorgeous!

The rear end which normally is the undoing of the Compact Sedans is a plus point with Sway. Tata Motors has perhaps realized that they own JLR so are free to take design cues from the Jag! ;-)

The most affordable sedan in the country is the most good looking too! Well done Tata!

Loved the kite exteriors. Simple yet spot on. Proportionate and aesthetic. split tail lamp is very interesting on this car. Perhaps some work still pending on the bonnet area. Thanks to TML styling studio for finally pulling out an Indian version of people's car. The CS saga continues from where it began. If all goes well, this kite is flying high

The boot lid/door is wide, complementing the large boot.

Nice to see that the door edge is recessed & does not stick out like in other models (including the Safari)

Come to think of it, with this large boot, the fairly good GC, all the features and the price - then why go for a compact SUV ?

They need to plonk in the 90 bhp 1.3 Fiat multijet in this and go all out on refinement and power.

That would put the competition on the backfoot.

And lessen the impact of rival sales execs saying 'but Its a TATA'.

As much as I would love to see that happen, Tata is too conservative to do that. They didn't give the 90HP on the Bolt. So there would be no chance of that happening on this one unfortunately. We should be very happy if they think of giving it a 75HP Quadrajet

Woah!! That's THE BEST looking compact sedan -- inside out, period. Besides, with the feature set on offer, I honestly want this car to succeed in India.

That's quite capacious!

It's slightly larger than the sizeable boots of other compact sedans - namely, the Xcent (407 litres) and the Amaze (400 litres). It's somewhat smaller than that of the original 4m+ Indigo / Indigo XL (450 litres), but bigger than those of the Indigo CS (380 litres) and the Zest (390 litres).

So it's confirmed the car is not a liftback?

I guess these alloys are just meant for the show car.

I think the company decided at the last minute to put in large(r) alloys and wheels on the show car to enhance its looks further (instead of the stock ones). They must not have had enough time to order a set of custom made ones, so they must've gone shopping for good looking large(r) alloys, chose a multi-PCD set, and then put the Tata logo on them.

I can't think of any other reason why the Kite 5 show car is sporting multi-PCD alloys.

That you must be right. However, the Auto Expo Unveil of this car was known since long back. This last minute arrangement does not come across as too encouraging.

Though most people won't notice it, would rather go fascinated by it, which is what the team banked on. But a select few won't like it.

Kite C will have the same 1.05L Revotorq engine as its hatch sibling. However there is no official information on its state of tune(power and torque figures). I expect a little higher figures than zica.

Which is premium Kite or Zest? Tata already has Indigo & Zest as compact sedans. So one more in the repertoire? Already they have 5 hatchbacks, now 3 sedans in sub 8 lakhs space, with each model having 3 or 4 variants in each of petrol & diesel fuel types. Imagine the confusion for buyers

Instead of comparing with others, Tata must compare their compact sedans and provide a recommendation guide on who should buy which model.

They now have 3 hatches and Zica will make it 4 (Vista was discontinued). Indica is very much in Taxi and Bolt is doing small nos in mid / high end Hatchbacks. Zica will be positioned below Bolt. Will cannibalize some nos of Bolt.
They now have 2 compact sedans, Indigo being mainly going into the Taxi and Zest in personal segment. Kite 5 will also be going into personal segment, will probably sit below Zest in terms of positioning. There will again be some cannibalization between Zest and Kite 5.

There does not seem to be any confusion, as an average buyer nowadays is well informed and as Maruti says cannibalization does not matter as long as customer stays within their brand.

Infact to me Hyundai offers more no of variants on each of its models, which is not a bad thing from sales point of view as more choices are available to the buyer.
