Checked it out. It lists Chennai too but the site needs work and don't know if it really works. Should try out.

Re: The Indian Taxi Revolution - Uber, Ola, TaxiforSure, Meru etc.

Looks like the agrregators have realised limitations on the supply side in the taxi market and started working on Autos .Ola has already started aggregating autos in Bangalore and the local Black&yellow taxi in mumbai. It is now Taxi for sure that has launched the nano taxi however as mentioned in the article they are looking at tying up with 5,000 autos .Looks like trickle down theory of economics is in play with the VC money reaching our autos and taxi drivers.

Why is it that these cab operators are offering only sedans/compact cars but i dont see an option to hire an 8 seater like an innova from any of these aggregators!

Re: The Indian Taxi Revolution - Uber, Ola, TaxiforSure, Meru etc.

OLA does have a prime service where a big car like Innova is being offered. Haven't seen any but they're available on the mobile app.

Can anyone elaborate the running costs of the Nano? Given its petrol run and long term reliability isn't known, how will it be offered at 10/km? Okay I am sure this is just the introductory price. But suppose they decide to raise costs so as to break even and make money, how will the costs stand?

Re: The Indian Taxi Revolution - Uber, Ola, TaxiforSure, Meru etc.

TOI reports Taxiforsure, uber, zoomcar and carzonrent has been banned in KA.
But got an email from zoomcar that this is incorrect and zoomcar continues to operate.
I checked TFS website and they seem to be running.

Why will zoom car come under that bracket? They are just providing rental cars but not drivers. Also, their cars are not taxis AFAIK and that's the reason they have a different number plate colour scheme.

Except Ola, uber, taxi for sure, and a few others are banned in Bengaluru now.

Here is a news report:

http://www.firstpost.com/fwire/uber-...u-1845797.html
The Karnataka government banned Uber and three other cab operators from plying their taxis in the capital city from Friday, a top official said Thursday. "We have banned Uber, TaxiForSure, Cars on Rent and Zoomcar from operating their taxis in the city under the statutory city taxi scheme, as they have not registered with us," state transport commissioner Rame Gowda told IANS here.
TOI Epaper - Bangalore edition also has the ban details on the front page.

Guess its either some misunderstanding or a miscommunication on the part of the RTO or media. Zoom cars is not a taxi or a cab operator. This ban is on those cab or taxi operators who have not registered with the concerned departments.

This must be the outcome of an overzealous bureaucrat no doubt. But isn't it the responsibility of the Transport commissioner not to give such comments.

Also a statement from Zoomcar: http://www.zoomcar.com/blog/zoomcar%...r-or-provider/
Dear Zoomcar Members,
We have a very important message to deliver to our community.

Some online news publications like ‘Times of India’, ‘Business Standard’, and ‘New Indian Express’ have INCORRECTLY reported that Zoomcar has been banned by the Karnataka Transport Department from operating it’s vehicles in Bangalore.
We would like to clarify directly to our members, that Zoomcar is NOT a taxi operator, provider or aggregator, and has NOT been banned from operating in Bangalore, (or Pune, or Gurgaon NCR). We have confirmed this directly with the Karnataka Transport Department.
We are purely a Self-Drive car rental company and we do NOT operate any other form of commercial transport service nor are associated in any way to any taxi operators. Our service model is very different from how taxi operators, providers or aggregate function.
Zoomcars can only be driven by members who sign up with us and hold a valid driver’s license issued in India (or a valid equivalent international licence). Anyone who is not registered with us, or is not the owner of the booking made, is not authorized to drive any of our vehicles.
Our website at www.zoomcar.com and Mobile Apps are live and accepting bookings as normal. All our operations are, and will continue to function normally without any foreseen disruption. All bookings starting today or later will be valid and fulfilled as normal.
Keep Zooming!
Greg Moran and David Back

The mistake lies either in the person who made that statement, without having knowledge of what is what, or the mistake lies in the media - the statement would be 'We are banning unregistered cab operators and taxis except Meru, Ola..' and so on. To fill up the article space, the reporter would have googled brandnames which werent mentioned in the statement.

Anyway, I am surprised to see only Ola under the registered list. Not sure why others hadnt done before.

Ola prime offers Innova. Most of the times one gets an Innova in that category. You can call them and ask them to send an Innova only and they would do it. I used Ola prime frequently in the last month in Mumbai.

Re: The Indian Taxi Revolution - Uber, Ola, TaxiforSure, Meru etc.

Thanks amansanc! but i think the cab operators operate differently in different regions. I have been able to find innovas from radio taxi operators in chennai, but one of my friends did enquire with ola about innovas here in bangalore and apparently they said that they don't operate any here.. It was a while back and that could have changed by now, but let me call them up and check anyways

Have anyone tried to ride Uber in Bangalore in the last few days? Though they are banned, their app still works and shows available cabs as well!!

Well, as a driver, I can

1: Stay at home and let the interest burden pile up

or 2: Carry on as normal with a 1:10 chance of being caught
