Re: Mahindra XUV500 Petrol in the pipeline

The segment where XUV competes in demands a light, smooth, efficient and silent petrol motor. Half baked, half hearted approach will not cut it. Look at TATA struggling with their Revotron Engine. The performance figures on paper have not exactly translated on the road. The engine is based on the old Xeta engine although heavily modified but you can only change so much. Mahindra's petrol engine technology or expertise is nothing to write home about. The petrol engine project looks more likely to be a R&D project than a mass production one.
