Audi recalls 382 units of Q7 over faulty brakes

German luxury carmaker has recalled 382 units of the Q7 SUV over a flaw in the brake system. The company claims that a defective vacuum line may allow the engine oil to enter the brake system, which can damage the diaphragm in the brake and affect its efficiency. While the brakes would still function, a lot more pressure would need to be put on the brake pedal.

Audi has sold over 5000 units of the Q7 .This particular problem is found in cars with the 3.0 TDI engine manufactured between March and December 2012. No other variant of the SUV have been affected. This campaign was launched on September 25 and the company has already rectified the problem in 197 cars.

Audi dealers will get in touch with owners of the affected cars and arrange an appointment at their workshops. They will then inspect the vacuum line with the non-return valve for possible leakage of engine oil and replace the vacuum line in case any leakage is detected. The process will take approximately 30 minutes and will be carried out free of charge.

Dealers will also inspect the brake booster system for oil contamination. If there is oil contamination, additional components may be replaced.

The recall is a part of a global exercise involving 70,000 units of the A4, A5, A6, A7, Q5 and Q7.

Re: Audi recalls 382 units of Q7 over faulty brakes

This is interesting my friends Q5 had a similar problem with the brake systems. Some fluid had entered the brake system of Q5 resulting in brake pedal harding and had to be first cleaned and then some parts changed the whole process took 3 days and 70K.
