Your Yeti is the new shape right? That's based on the new MQB platform from VW. Its totally different from the previous generation. Changes are not just skin deep. Though your Yeti merely looks like a facelift, its much more than that, not just by features and looks, but from the basic chasis to all electronic modules. It is built on a completely new platform.

Could be the case. It's also the Zeal Edition in complete black interiors. The multimedia unit is different from the other new Facelift versions that were reviewed earlier. Instead of the MID port, it has dedicated Auxiliary and USB ports which works well with the iPhone. Apparently it has mirror link with Android, yet to try that as I am not a very frequent android user and keep one for testing only. Will update screenshots if I can manage to get google maps on the MirrorLink Bolero Unit. Would have loved it if it was the SmartLink unit from the new Superb and Octavia (2016 models).

This however does have the icons and names popping up when the hand moves closer. Quite a cool effect.

The face lifted Yeti is not based on the new MQB platform. The only car so far in India on this platform is the Octavia (in Skoday/VW) - I'm not sure of the new Superb.

I'm not sure why they linked Auto to the re-circulation mode in the first place, but it is not linked in my Rapid and I like it that way. Glad they updated the Yeti.

Thanks! I stand corrected. Somehow I believed that the Yeti facelift was built on MQB platform. Just checked and found that it is not. Even the facelift Yeti is based on A5 (PQ35) platform same as the first gen. Yeti. Now that has kicked up a lot more questions in my head which was otherwise justified under the MQB label!

New Superb III is built on MQB. So that's Octavia III and Superb III based on MQB platform sold in India under Skoda badge.

Will definitely try it. So far my wife has pointed out on some occasions that lights might be moving!

In total, it's a brilliant car. Got it with factory fitted all black interiors as well which was a bonus. Will definitely checkout the Skoda UK website for accessories. There stock here in Bangalore is quite minimal.
You should try Superskoda.com for accessories. Great stuff there. Some of us have been buying from there for some years now. No problems really.
But choose your stuff well.

With ref to anything requiring professional fitment, better get it done at the Dealership workshop because they will do it properly rather than DIY!

The Vinayaka guys have some accessories and can get you more if you want. Go to their Service Centre near KR Puram Garden City College and meet Prem the Service Advisor. He is a helpful chap.

The Yeti's fog lamps have a "Cornering' Function. When you're driving at night and are taking a left or right turn you will see clearly that the illumination changes and brightens up your life as you turn in - just watch for it. It is clearly visible.

The under passenger seat tray is supposed to be a standard fitment - at least in the old Yeti it was. So were the Stow Nets which I got along with the vehicle when I bought it.

Re: 2014 Skoda Yeti Facelift : A Close Look

Hi
Posting after a long time. I own the new yeti, bought in Nov 2015, Zeal edition, all black interiors etc., 4x4 variant. Just wanted to know, if anyone with similar ownership has given any thought to Mirror Link Activation, which as visible is hardware capable, but need some intervention by Skoda. Also has anyone tried changing general settings via the cable and compatible software.

Have a similar Zeal Edition model with the new ICE unit. The MirrorLink part needs a compatible android phone. Not all Android Phones are MirrorLink capable. Tried connecting my Moto X, not much luck there.

Re: 2014 Skoda Yeti Facelift : A Close Look

Ok. Phone compatibility comes later.
My Yeti screen says "mirrorlink needs activation"
And Skoda says this feature s disabled in the yeti. I'm not too sure if that's true.
Also any thoughts on connecting a backup cam to this original system?

Checked on many international forums for MirrorLink. 'Apparently' it is licensed to car makers by region and as a result of some licensing fee between Skoda and MirrorLink. In any case, being primarily an iPhone user, would have preferred Apple Car Play instead.

Looks like Skoda has discontinued the 4X2 model. I had a chat with them and they said only 4X4 available. Even their latest price list on the website not showing the 4X2 model.

I had a chat with the sales guy at autobahn Mumbai, apparently Skoda had discontinued the current Yeti model. According to the sales rep they will introduce the 2017 model (which is available globally) soon in India.

Available globally? That is the current model AFAIK which is the Yeti facelift basically. Next generation is yet to launch. Or is it launched already?

Yeah even I had the same doubt; I did not explore much as, I feel, they are as clueless as general public in these matters . I guess it is the same model, may be with some minor feature updates. My guess is that it will come with slight price increase as well.

The 4x2 variant is currently not even there on the UK website where they sell a lot of these. Infotainment system upgrades are expected as the 4x2 carried over the older unit. Newer units should have the USB + Aux near the cubby hole. While they are at it, lets hope Apple Car Play and Android Auto becomes standard as well.

Re: 2014 Skoda Yeti Facelift : A Close Look

Hi All,
Just got physical mail from Skoda that asks for an update of the Engine Management System. Few questions to this group.
1. Did anyone else get the same letter?
2. If so, is this the diesel gate update?
3. If anyone has gone through the update procedure already, does it effect the performance of the vehicle?
Thanks
