SCOOP: Renault Grand Scenic MPV spotted on the Bangalore-Chennai Highway

The Ertiga and Mobilio rival the Renault Scenic was spotted undisguised. Probably testing on the Bangalore - Chennai highway.

The overall design is not something that will make you weak in your knees.

The engine looked powerfull enough to carry this MPV,probably the same engine doing duty in the Fluence. Could not get front shots. There is one shot out of our rear view.

I guess it'll be using the same oil burner as the other Renault & Nissan cars in India! 1.5l unit.
Hope they price it well because the competition is far better in terms of design, performance & A.S.S!
Renault should price it right to grab a fair share of the market.

Why has the rear been designed to look like a Volvo? If Volvo has patented this design, they might win a lawsuit (if they file it)

Thanks for sharing the images Arjun

Are we sure Scenic is coming as an Ertiga/ Mobilio competitor? Internationally, it is a 5 seater, but with good 500L+ boot space.

Is that enough room to put an additional row of seats?

Hard to say whether Renault is considering this car for India. No report of it being tested with any camouflage anywhere. It's probably here for just R&D. A Zauba search showed that the company has indeed imported one last year (July '13). It has a 1.6 DCI engine - which means 128 bhp?

Thanks for sharing the pictures.
The car is actually the Grand Scenic (7 seater), and if brought to India, it will not be in the space of Ertiga/Mobilio. This should cost more than the Fluence.

Aditya seems right. The car could be for R& D purposes. Also the 17 Lakh price tag will hold good because of the import duty. If manufactured in India and localised parts,I am sure the 17 lakhs will come down to the Mobilio price range.

Adi, can the manufacturer run the car for more than a year on a temp registration?the design is so simple that it needs no camouflage. LOL.

Renault Scenic is a proper 7-seater and far more spacious than the Innova, forget Mobilio/ Ertiga

If I recall right, it has sliding doors for the second row and dash with large fonts for speedo, similar to the erstwhile Honda Civic.

OT: Prices mentioned in Zauba.com are CIF Prices. Duty is not included in prices mentioned.

May be Renault is doing a market study, similar to Ford Fiesta hatch!

re: SCOOP: Renault Grand Scenic MPV spotted on the Bangalore-Chennai Highway

The Grand Scenic, is a proper 7-seater international MPV. The exterior design may not be flashy, but it reeks of good quality. Interiors will blow any Eritga, Mobilio, Innova, Xylo, Aria out of the water.

The question is, are we (Indians) ready for a premium MPV? If the past is any indication, I think not.

Considering the Lodgy is running around in disguise and this is not, my guess is that this is being used for R&d purposes to test components

This has a lot of parts shared with the Fluence. Too expensive for India for sure. Could be for Research and dev or some company transport.

What color is that steering? It's an eyesore.
And weirdly positioned instrument cluster!
