I think Toyota has some different Transfer Pricing structure internally , if they were to have something on Mercedes / BMW/Audi pattern we could have seen LC @ much lower prices then S Class , perhaps they don't want to raise any flags on Import / Customs prices and have bought these at close to Market / Dealer prices prevailing in Export country . Besides there are chances that we have some lower or Nil Import duties on veichles for R&D / Homologation

Toyota's MPV, the Innova, is all set to get a major update in its new-generation version, which is slated to be launched in India early 2016. Toyota is tightlipped over the global unveiling of the new-gen Innova before the end of this year.

According toautonetmagz, the new Innova will be launched in Indonesia in October 2015. The website says the launch is likely to happen at the 2015 Jakarta Auto Show, which will be held simultaneously along with Indocomtech 2015, from 28 October to 1 November, 2015.

The report further says the Innova, which is known as Kijang in some foreign markets, will have better safety features than the current model. Apart from the dual airbags, the new Innova will also be equipped with ABS brakes and a middle seat Isofix. Isofix is the International Standards Organisation Fix created by car seat connoisseurs. The system uses fixed connection points rather than a seatbelt as two-thirds of car seats are incorrectly fitted, according to statistics.

Under the hood, the new Innova is expected to include 2.4 or 2.5-litre diesel engines with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. The new Innova will be built on a new platform and is likely to be lighter than the current generation model. The re-styled front end will feature bigger grille and tweaked front and rear bumpers. Additionally, the popular MPV in new avatar will sport projector headlamps that have LED daytime running lights and fog lights.

The interior of the new Toyota Innova is expected to get features such as dual-tone interior and updated steering wheel. In terms of entertainment, this car will be equipped with touchscreen head unit. When launched in India, the Innova will rival against Honda Mobilio, Renault Lodgy and Nissan Evalia. The 2016 Toyota Innova is expected to be priced around Rs 1lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh more than the current model.

Straight from the horse's mouth - N Raja, Senior Vice President and Director of Sales and Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited, has told Gaadi.com in an exclusive Q&A that neither the all-new Innova nor the all-new Fortuner will be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo by Toyota India, which points to a possible 2017 launch for both these cars.

He revealed that the next generation Fortuner that was unveiled not so long ago will most likely be launched in India only by 2017.

He also happened to mention that the next-generation Innova might also not make it to Indian showrooms next year, but details about the new Innova is not concrete as he was being a bit diplomatic with his answers.

Since the two models are not expected to launch in the country anytime soon, when asked about their presence at the 2016 Auto Expo, Mr. Raja said that both of them will not be showcased at the upcoming event. This comes as disappointing news, as many were expecting to see new models of both the popular utility vehicles at the biggest automotive exhibition in India.

Thank you Avi for sharing this piece of information. This has come as a blessing in disguise for me. I have already made up my mind to go for the Ertiga facelift (getting launched on 10th Oct) and I can continue driving it without any heartburn at least for 2 years, that the all new powerful Innova wont be available until then.

It is a pity and shame on Toyota . They simply keep milking customers with these two cash cows and don't bother to offer the latest technology or advancements to the Indian customers.

2017 ? For a car that has already being tested in India ? Thats a little too late.
I believe they are working on creating a diluted version of both the cars. Remove most of the features, provide spartan interiors and sell it at much higher price. India only edition .!
I would say thats a blessing in disguise for Ford. With the market hype that has been created with the other two launches, they should press hard and release the Endeavour (Everest) at competetive price.This will give a tough fight to Fortuner.

Got a sales call from my regular Toyota dealership asking me if I would be interested in purchasing a second Toyota. Upon a bit of prodding came to know that Toyota has planned to launch the new Innova in February 2016, hope this is true. Also inquired about the launch of the new Fortuner and doesn't look like its gonna be launched this year.

It seems the 6-speed manual won't make it to the Innova. Which is a big downer for all of us. That's what it needs the most in my opinion. Hope they have at least reworked the gear ratios.
Ask any Innova owner what his biggest gripe is with the car the answer will be synonymous, a sixth gear. Even power is acceptable. It's the gearing which messes things up and yet again Toyota seems to have skipped on it.
