It's not the engine but the gearbox which is the gem on the GT TSi although it's notoriously famous for breakdowns as well. Point I am trying to make 1.2 manual wouldn't be half as much fun as the DSG box.

If an engine is great fun on a great gearbox, it will be even more fun on manual for the enthusiast driver - its that simple.
Ecoboost 1L also had potential to be a great engine, but the lower end tune was a let down, hopefully they fix it in future versions.
Revotron 1.2L has potential to be a fantastic engine from what we have heard of so far, we will know in a few days when the reviews are out.

I had a chance to go to the vw polo yard and I managed to take a couple of snaps.
The new polo has front foot-well lights which lights when you unlock the car and open the door. ( for both highline and comfortline ) Also the steering controls are used to change the display in the instrument cluster. The high line gets beige + black interiors, but the comfortline gets all black interiors.
The steering feels smaller and there is a grip too.
The new instrument cluster gets additional feature of which song is played I guess. The SA was not quite sure of it and I couldn't see it because the system was set to "in transit " and not all features are activated in that mode.
The 1.5L diesel engine sounds a bit less noisy or may be its just psychological.

It's not that simple buddy. A seven speed DSG will eat a manual 5 speed standard gearbox for breakfast lunch and dinner anytime. I am basing my opinions on actual driving and not here say.
I have driven manual TSi on jetta and 1.2 TSI on GT and it's the gearbox that makes the GT whole lot more fun. He engine itself is just B+. The seven speed DSG takes it to a whole different level as it has lightning quick shifts and keeps the engine in the torque band through out.

The new blue colour was confirmed by the guy there.
The GT variants are a couple of months away.
The regular polo variants will be priced almost the same as the previous ones even the diesel ones despite the new engine and the guy said that has been possible as compared to the old engine the new engine is completely built in India and thus there are excise benefits.
The pune launch of 2014 polo is scheduled on 15th july 3 PM At B.U.Bhandari / volkswagen pune west.
@Gannu_1 are static cornering lamps new additions to the facelift or just a rearrangement? Further in your opinion will the throw of the light improve substantially with double barrel headlamps and H1/H7 bullbs?
@rejoycjohn the footwell lights are a nice addition to the facelift.
Can't wait to get my hands on the TSI I had booked in Nov last year but decided to delay taking delivery in order to get the facelifted version. Just wish they had xenon lamps as an after sale fitment at least.

Yes the static cornering lights are a new addition to the Indian version. Currently, the outermost casing in the fog lamp cluster has just the reflector and no bulb. Now, they've included a bulb for the cornering function. When you turn the steering wheel left/right, that particular bulb lights up giving you some extra vision of the road you are turning into.
They are already present on some of the versions of the Polo sold abroad. Here is a snap of it:

Absolutely. In the double barrel arrangement, the low beam is from the H1 bulb and the high beam from the H7 bulb whereas in the previous Polo, both the low and high beams were from a single H4 bulb (different filaments).

The new Polo has a 1.5 L TDI which is eligible for excise break as the capacity is < 1500 cc. Basically, its the same 1.6 Litre engine as in the earlier Polos but with a smaller capacity.
Disappointing that VW has not done much with this version, if they had incorporated more features I am sure that the Polo sales would have improved significantly.
We have a 2012 1.2L Petrol Highline and the car drives beautifully (except for the underpowered engine).
Inverted L-type head restraints for the rear seat is a very welcome change.The outgoing models rear headrests had a very bad effect on rear view visibility.
Hi All,
Is there any information on changes(if any) the 1.2P non tsi engine? I went for a test drive on the previous generation car and the one thing which stood out negatively was the vibrations coming from the engine! it was just too much. When i asked the Sales guy, he said the car hasn't been maintained well. I'm not too sure about this because i've never driven the polo before. Can anyone please confirm?

What you experienced was probably a low maintenance test drive car.
The 1.2l is a 3 cylinder engine and was never known for its refinement. It gets smooth as you start driving but not otherwise. I'd stay away from this relic of an engine.
If you want refinement, I suggest you stick to the 1.2 TSI or look at other options.
