re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

Maruti and Honda are competing with each other in giving us ugly wheel caps/alloy designs. Both seem to have the take it or leave it attitude. They seem to have a sadistic pleasure in seeing us Indians queue to buy their cars despite such utterly distasteful design elements .

The number of spokes and the thickness is increasing with every face lift. Going by this trend, all alloy designs would converge to being just a flat plate with some holes soon

Reminded me of the Civic Hybrid's alloys.

Yes, going back to retro ways. A lot of examples can be seen in Mercedes alloys of late 80s to mid 90s. Difference is that older designs has radial lines while newer designs would have angular lines.

Even the OHC VTEC OEM alloys were having a considerably large flat surface in the center and tiny spokes at the outer edge.

Caught a car being tested

Hi All,

Caught a car being tested on NH-8 near Gurgaon. Going by HR26 registration number it might be from Maruti. Also in one of the pics it looks like the steering wheel has a S on it.

re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

why aren`t we getting the vitara which looks more like a conventional suv, this vehicle would be basically be in a segment above i20 cross or liva cross. This is a bigger hatchback space but i don`t think people would consider it to be competitor of duster or any other conventional suv.

For Folks who have caught this car on camera,
What is your thoughts on how powerful the car is? Was it doing some serious speeds? Just wondering what engine is being tested here.

On the conference with analysts the management of Maruti indicated that SX4 Cross is going to come only by start of next fiscal FY16 i.e. April 2015 onwards. So the vehicle is some time away. They also indicated that the new SUV will come only by FY17.

Quoting below is the report.
Quote:
Maruti plans to launch new and upgraded models of its cars over the next 12 months, including in the premium segment where it has had little success in the past. This will include an SUV in the first quarter of 2016,
In the premium segment and next 12 months , S Cross is what they meant and is known from past interviews.

The SUV (CUV) they meant is the XA Alpha coming in 2016.

Maruti was able to tune the Multijet engines better than Fiat. Now they are partnering Peugeot.
Maruti are really good at developing engines and now they should their own, it may be quite helpful. they could use across the whole Maruti stable.

Is this really coming with the 1.6? I have serious doubts! And after the debacle that was CIAZ (purely personal), I'm not too sure if this is something to really look out for.

No keyless go, no steering mounted controls- that's some serious cost cutting there! Lower variants might target the Ecosport?

re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

I see a six speed transmission finally! And this seems to be a MSIL brewed lower end version with that swift ka steering. Looking forward to this car now. The top end will get more features, since its already present in Ciaz and Swift.

I can't see a touch screen AVN either. Could this in fact be a lower variant with alloys?
