This! I really hope they launch an automatic version also like they did for Ciaz. In the segment a good diesel with auto will be an unbeatable combination. Heck it might even force Mahindra to hurry up with their auto versions.

Another Spec comparison (Diesel) of S Cross, Creta and Duster. There are some speculated values in GC, Pricing etc.

Excellent torque figures for S Cross. Will be surely a fun to drive car.

I wonder why the ground clearance of Creta is so miserable compared to the other cars of this size.

Yes the S-Cross surely will be popular due to that 1.6 liter multijet. I expect some fantastic tuning and gearing from Suzuki as well I do also hope that it handles well and gives enough feedback. I was sorely disappointed by the numb steering and the extremely soft suspension characteristics of the Ciaz rendering it a bit slow and nervous for quick agile manoeuvres. I'd be much happier if they calibrated that eps for better response and feedback, stiffened the dampers, lowered the ride-height by a bit and added a strut brace and rear discs instead of launching it with the more powerful 1.6 multijet. To me, there is nothing scarier than a powerful car that cannot dynamically keep up with the oomph its engine delivers. The liveliness of a Suzuki brought in by the Baleno, Swift, 1st gen SX4, Kizashi all powered by those meaty old petrol motors, seems to be fading in their newer products let's hope that is not the case with this car.

That was a good review by Autocar UK. The S-cross seems to be a good crossover and that 1.6MJD, going by that review, seems to be a gem and a real world average of 20-22kmpl sounds good. I hope they price it well. 10.0 seconds to a 100kmph, now that is fast!!

Always wished to ask- Does this per unit value hold any significance?? If yes, then I guess the price of S-Cross is more or less revealed.

As posted by member RavenAvi, S-Cross top end's value according to Maruti was 7.68lacs. Add another 2 lacs(optimism at its best) for the profits etc and we are looking at a 10 Lac Ex-showroom figure for the top end 1.6L S-Cross which is terrific VFM in my opinion.

That is defininately wishful thinking. Today I dropped by at a maruti dealer to check the CIAZ prices ( annoyed of waiting endlessly for SCROSS launch dates to be revealed) and realized that CIAZ ZDI with 1.3 is about 11.9 on road.

Given that SCROSS would have a bigger engine and that it too is expected to be loaded with features, I would be happy to see the final figure within 11.

Prices declared at custom may be the ex-factory price; without profits or taxes or dealer's cut as you quoted.

Btw, does anyone know the definitively launch date yet?

Indications from a dealer in Bangalore is it will be approx. 11 lakhs (ex showroom) for the top variant.

Maruti has officially not announced the start of booking, though some dealers have started taking them at various booking amounts( INR 21 -31k)

No training of dealers has commenced yet and only speculated launch is end July.

Over the past couple weeks, there have been inconsistant reports about delars accepting bookings. I came across this arctical today that claims that starting today dealers are officially taking the booking amount.

re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

Ok guys. Here is a mini scoop of sorts. I've been staying at The Marriott, Delhi Aerocity for some time. The Maruti guys have organized a pre-launch training for a huge gang of their sales team here since the last week. The inputs that I have gathered by interacting with a few guys (no official version though) are as under.
  • Launch in July first week.
  • All Four disc brakes- isn't that great!
  • No detuning of the engine- all 320 nm of the turning force and 118 bhp power, best in class!
  • No ESP- thats a downer.
  • No Four Wheel Drive option at launch - sad.
  • ICE: Touch screen with sat nav.
  • Cruise Control present.
  • 60:40 split rear seating.
  • 16 inch alloys.
  • 205 cross section wheels- not great.
  • They are launching it under a new supposedly premium sub brand called NEXA- this was reported some time back on some other thread too.
Details of variants, pricing etc not known.

Oh boy, you should've sneaked in to attend that training

Early July launch would be great. I don't recall when was the last time the two biggies (MUL and Hyundai) entered a new segment at almost the same time.

Exciting times ahead !
