Couple of dope I got on a lazy weekend;

a. The name's going to be Ford Figo Ka.
b. Interior beige may be sacrificed for a combination of grey and black.
c. Launch on 21st September.

Now the wait begins for a test drive and then our next car.

I sincerely hope they give power windows in all 4 Windows unlike the previous Figo.

The Aspire has power windows in all 4 windows (except base model i think), so I am pretty sure they will be provided in the hatchback too.

I am not that optimistic. Even Fiesta classic which Aspire has replaced had power windows in all windows but previous Figo didn't. I am hoping Ford corrects this mistake otherwise its gonna be a deal breaker for me.

Since from it's inception, Figo never had any major changes except few inside & outside.

But, Upcoming Figo is going to be a bigger hatch (Both in Length and Width). So, I'm optimistic to have all 4 power windows and all the features offered in Aspire.

The original Ka looked funny but seems the new Figo would be the new Ka.



Seems these would be what we will get; looks great to me.

Looks really good. I liked the Aspire's looks overall but it does look a bit awkward from certain angles. But the hatchback seems to look great from all angles. Hope it comes with the same features as Aspire and priced well too.

0-100 in 9.72 seconds for Aspire diesel is hard to believe. It is very close to more powerful GT TSI and Punto Abarth.

From the below given source the launch is expected in end of september or early october. Speculations of Diwali release is also in the cards.

The next gen Ford Figo hatchback is all set to be launched in India on September 23. The hatchback follows the Figo Aspire compact sedan closely to take complete advantage of this festive season.

Following the same design language as the Figo Aspire sub-4 metre sedan, the hatchback features a bulging tailgate. The interior has a common design but whereas the Aspire adopts a dual-tone beige color theme, the hatchback settles for a sporty full-black finish with silver and piano black accents.

The equipment level too is expected to be inherited from its bigger sibling. Expect the hatchback to come packed with upmarket features like SYNC 2.0 multimedia infotainment system, automatic climate control, electrically adjustable ORVMs, reverse parking sensors, ABS with EBD, and 6 airbags (in Titanium + variant).

The car will be powered by a 1.2-litre Ti-VCT four-cylinder petrol engine which is tuned to deliver 88 PS and 112 Nm of torque. The diesel engine of choice will be the popular 1.5-litre TDCI motor that is derived from the EcoSport. Under the next gen Figo’s hood, it will develop 100 PS and 215 Nm of torque. Both engines will be mated to 5-speed MT.

It remains to be seen whether Ford will offer the 1.5-litre petrol engine with 6-speed PowerShift dual-clutch AT in the hatchback or not.

The website of Ford India still shows old Figo and nothing in Future Cars section. They can build good cars but not good websites I think so.

When I got my Fiesta delivered, the dealer said that Figo stocks are all out and they shipped (dumped) few petrol cars which also had takers. With this the new Figo is still not in the website

Come on Ford, in the recent past you are in the radar of people who wish to look beyond Maruti and Hyundai, Keep them engaged

I got a call from Ford SA for follow-up of my Aspire enquiry. When I said that I was waiting for the new Figo to launch so that I can do a price/spec comparo and make final decision, he said that the Figo would indeed launch by the end of this month (Sep) and that he will let me know as soon as the details are officially revealed. Several auto websites indicate a September 23 launch as already mentioned above.

The source article sounds pretty confident that Ford will offer 100PS power option in the new Figo (diesel).
I have very keenly followed Figo aspire thread only to have concept of the new Figo clear as in the near future a need for hatchback may arise in the family. Now if the diesel Figo is offered in the same state of tune as aspire ie 100 PS, it will become direct competition to the standard Polo TDi and elite i20. Perhaps performance wise, it MAY come close to Polo GT tdi too because Ford never disappoints on the drivability factor.
Assuming above to be true, the performance part seems covered along with extra ordinary safety equipments level in top end trim. Now that brings us to price factor. Will it price in the segment where old Figo left or will it up its prices bringing it right neck to neck with Polo and elite i20.
Interesting days ahead for prospective hatchback buyers.
