I think TBHP spends more time post-processing the pictures But then there are so many pictures which shows every nook and corner of the cars.

Good thing about the european model is that they didn't make any drastic change to the car, which indicates we have a car which will have good crash test rating and reasonable quality, just like the swift.

ONLY the design (looks) may be similar; the actual parts used will determine the build / crash worthiness of the car. I do NOT think any of the international versions of Suzuki will be as tinny as we get nor will be rattles galore.

It might be applicable to models that are locally made but I guess India might be the export hub for celerio, just like the a-star. If I remember correctly swift made in some part of asia got 5 star safety rating, shows maruthi doesn't make structural changes to the international models.

Maruti Suzuki (or Suzuki India if you will) will not be producing the Celerio. Suzuki Thailand is given that job by Suzuki Japan, since repeating labor unrest in Maruti's plants causes trouble for export markets.

The LHS Swift (which got the 5* rating) was not made by Maruti, but the Indian Swift (both generations) is crashworthy too, as seen on numerous threads. Maruti isn't known to modify structural integrity for domestic markets unlike Hyundai.

Re: Maruti to offer Automated Manual ("EZdrive") in small cars*EDIT: Celerio AMT laun

Here are few pics of the LXi MT version. I am told the AMT variant also looks the same. The car is very spacious and interior design is nice. The engine bay had lots and lots of empty space and looked pretty bad. Don't know how it will be in the AMT variant. Forgot to take pics! Overall, the car felt very flimsy for its size. I don't think the Celerio will age that well.

The front looks good without the chrome strips on the grille. Its got very clean lines which will please everyone. The ribbed roof can also be seen.

LXi sports 13" wheels whereas VXi get 14"

The pull type handle on the boot lid looks and feels very bad. Thankfully, the LXi gets 2 full size ORVMs.

Basic interior but the fit and finish is very good. I like the way it looks. The material quality is below average. And thankfully, the beige is more whitish than yellow.

Still waiting for a TD of that elusive AMT variant along with the review that matters.

I have posted photos of the VXi in this thread. In addition to bigger wheels, it's got full wheelcaps and some extra chrome on the grill.

"The Celerio will also be launched with an 800cc diesel engine option by end-2014, though the diesel model will not offer an AMT option at first."

Why the hell are they not doing this to Swift D? I feel like screaming "hit the bull's eye. Hit the bull's eye." But they keep hitting right, left and everywhere else. First A-Star, then Ritz, then this ugly ( sorry to say this ) Celerio. And now, Alto. Then may be tomorrow Wagon R. But no, they won't launch a Swift diesel with AT. Or, if they do, it will be to VXI but not to VDI. Very frustrating indeed.

Re: Maruti to offer Automated Manual ("EZdrive") in small cars*EDIT: Celerio AMT laun

As per Cartoq, celerio will get 800CC 2-cylinder diesel engine in future.

Quote:
the Celerio is likely to get an 800 cc turbo diesel engine in future. The diesel engine however, is a good couple of years away given the fact that Maruti will first introduce the 2 pot, 800 cc turbo diesel motor on its Y9T codenamed mini pick up truck next year. A more refined version of this diesel motor is likely to make it to the engine bays of Maruti Suzuki’s hot selling budget hatchbacks such as the WagonR and the Celerio.

Re: Maruti to offer Automated Manual ("EZdrive") in small cars*EDIT: Celerio AMT laun

Out of curiosity i just test drove the Celerio AMT Vxi. Here is my view on it.

The car i drove was Vxi version and it comes with AC, Power steering and power windows. Nothing much to add to the feature list.

1 Fit & finish of the car i found to be good. Interiors feels roomy and fresh due to beige color used. Quality is not bad either.
2 Engine is super silent.
3 AC of the car is really good and i felt cold after 10 mins in hot sun of afternoon in this comparatively hot season when AC was set to speed of 2.
4 Coming to drive part, AMT is just like AT. You shift to D mode and can start driving the car. Once you release the break pedal, car starts moving ahead. Nice i would say. Press the accelerator and car starts to make progress. Its slower than manual but not bad. You can see gears shifting from 1D to 2D, 3D in the dashboard. I didn't hear any noise as such while gears where shifting. But yes, little pause was there like we do in manual with clutch. Car picks up the speed decently. I felt little weird driving without clutch as i am not used to it. Overall felt nice about the AMT.

Big question, will i buy one (AMT) for myself?? Big NO. Why? Because i find manual the better for myself & don't have any issues with gear changing. Okay, will i buy it for my wife?? Big YES !!! Its a very nice car for ladies to operate in city traffic without any issues. Its also very nice car for elderly people and for the beginners. Its certainly not a car for enthusiastic people. But yes, if you want trouble free driving in city, then its a very nice car.

Maruti needs to launch Zxi and optional for AMT quickly. AMT Vxi has very less features, basic things like Music system & Electrical ORVM are missing. If Celerio Zxi optional comes around 6 Lacs OTR with all features then it will be certainly a good buy. Overall great start for AT (AMT ) in India, creadit goes to Maruti

Re: Maruti to offer Automated Manual ("EZdrive") in small cars*EDIT: Celerio AMT laun

Celerio's first impressions at the Geneva Motor Show, AMT variant also for EU cars. To be available in Eu by year end.

Dubs it as the micro car to "conquer especially the busy cities of the world".

Frugal is the Celerio by a low weight, good aerodynamics, and the 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine with newly developed 68 hp and start-stop system. It is shifted either manually or by automated "Auto Gear Shift" transmission.
Quote:
As advantages priced Suzuki to much space in the interior, a "remarkable boot volume of 254 l" and the CO2-class figure of 85 g / km.

Could be the version with ABS , Airbags for the Indian AMT version is a possibility that would be offered here in the near future.
