re: Hyundai Xcent (Grand i10 Sedan) caught testing : Now launched @ Rs. 4.66 lakh

As per Motoroids - new Hyundai Xcent petrol variant is priced from INR 4.66L to Rs 6.47L and diesel variant is priced from INR 5.56L to INR 7.38L (all prices are ex showroom Delhi).

This is VFM pricing IMO & the petrol variant could easily be the best bet in segment.

re: Hyundai Xcent (Grand i10 Sedan) caught testing : Now launched @ Rs. 4.66 lakh

Thanks a lot for sharing the brochure, mints21!

Looks like there are five variants - Base, S, S(O), SX & SX(O) with both petrol and diesel engines (paired to 5-speed manual gearboxes). The petrol is also available with a 4-speed torque converter in S(O) and SX(O) trim levels.

Spread of safety features is as good as (or as bad as) on the Honda Amaze, but better than the Maruti Suzuki DZire (which gets ABS and 2 airbags on only the Z_I variants).

The fixed front headrests are a huge, huge disappointment. They do not offer whiplash protection for many people. Hyundai should immediately get rid of these stupid fixed front headrests across four of its hatchbacks and the Xcent. How much more would adjustable headrests cost, at least for the front seats? I guess not more than one thousand rupees, at the most!

The spread of safety features is better than on its hatchback sibling, though. At least the top two variants get 2 airbags, and the (O) variants get ABS. Thankfully, they haven't neglected safety on the two available auto 'box variants. The S(O) Auto gets ABS, while the SX(O) Auto gets ABS and 2 airbags.

However, I still cannot understand why a driver airbag is not made standard across variants.

All that needs to be known now is the price.

Edit: Prices have now been revealed! Thanks to volkman10 and CARDEEP for the info.

Honda Amaze is priced between 4.99 to 7.55 for for the petrol and 5.97 to 7.49 for the diesel.

Considering the features list and interior quality- I feel petrol is real VFM. Diesel I am not so sure since both DZire and Amaze offers better engines.

Excellent and very competitive prices by Hyundai. But I have a feeling Dzire will still keep its market share intact. And the Xcent will rather fight it out with Amaze and its own siblings the I10 grand and I20.

The Automatic is priced almost 90k cheaper to the equivalent Amaze. However I am skeptical of its FE compared to the Amaze since the Xcent is a 4 speed auto while the Amaze is a 5 speed.

The Xcent has got 407 liters boot, 7 liters bigger than Amaze.

Hyundai has launched the Xcent sedan in India at introductory prices starting from Rs. 4.66 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
It is available with a choice of 2 engines - 1.2-litre petrol and 1.1-litre diesel and in 3 variants - Base, S and SX.

This car has success story written all over it. Indians' love for boot is pretty much out in the open and with killer pricing plus Hyundai's after sales and service network, its more a matter of how many Hyundai can make.

Re: Hyundai's Grand i10 Sedan caught testing : Now revealed, The Xcent

Just noticed that there is a significant increase in the amount of torque for the diesel engine in Xcent as compared to the one in Grand i10. But the peak torque spread is across a lesser RPM range as compared to the Grand i10.

Grand i10: 160 @ 1500 - 2750 RPM = 1250 (RPM range)

Xcent: 180 @ 1750 - 2500 RPM = 750 (RPM range)

It would be premature to write anything in respect of the response to this offering. Pitted against Dzire and Amaze, i10 Sedan's task will be pretty difficult.

In any case, customer is the eventual winner. In a space of 1 year, he has 3 different product offerings in the compact sedan category. More choice, more fun.

I doubt it. No matter how many goodies Hyundai has put in this, the engine is on a weaker side which is a big negative in comparison with Amaze at least.
Also, i am expecting Honda to release a face lift model for amaze as its nearly a year since its been launched. So, lesse what happens. Dzire will remain untouched imo.

Re: Hyundai Xcent (Grand i10 Sedan) caught testing : Now launched @ Rs. 4.66 lakh

Xcent will eat sales numbers from i10 Grand also. It may take away few numbers from i20 as well IMO as people will get some added features with bigger boot for same price or less price. And yes, it will steal numbers from Amaze as well. Dzire will also get impacted to some extent i guess considering its pricing. God bless competition.

Seeing this pricing, Tata will come under pressure to launch Zest at very competitive pricing. If they want to succeed they have to be seriously competitive in terms of the pricing to start with. At the end of the day, we will get better deals from the manufacturers

Re: Hyundai Xcent (Grand i10 Sedan) caught testing : Now launched @ Rs. 4.66 lakh

Superb pricing, undercutting Amaze and DZire. Many prospective customers of Swift, DZire, i10 and i20 will now queue up for this one. And the already falling sales of i20 will hit all-time lows.

Why not much enthusiasm among the Team-bhp members?

And now, it's Maruti's turn to bring the Celerio sedan at 4.5L, and remove the DZire 'L' variants from their range, making DZire a 'pricey' car!

Is it only me or anyone else who find both the petrol and diesel engine of Grand lethargic when compared with Amaze and Dzire?

I have driven the grand diesel a couple of times as well as petrol. Somehow both the engines feel a bit lifeless and boring specially when compared to Amaze's petrol and diesel unit. However i woukd admit the petrol feels neck to neck with dZire petrol. Cant say the same about diesel though.
