Other option could be the regular facelifted Tiguan, not the Allspace.

Since the T-ROC was quite compact, VW may not bother bringing it again since it will end up being quite close to the Taigun india made SUV. So the end result could be to have the smaller Tiguan to compete with the facelifted Compass and leave the larger SUV category to Skoda to get the Kodiaq TSI.
Why not a completely new car like the Taos/Tharu or the Nivus? Why are we ignoring that possibility? That size is perfect for India as a Creta rival. - The T-Cross (Taigun) and the Taos would make great rivals for the Nexon segment and the Creta segment, and they can keep the T Roc in the Compass segment.

Remember, the T Roc sold out within few months, and it is a pretty competent car I must say.
Discontinuing a car (albeit CBU) after one year from its launch is something I doubt VW would do.

VW India may position it between the Taigun and Tiguan.
PS - would the Taigun be sub 4m or not?

Taos is a Jeep Compass rival. Possible to launch, but could clash with T ROC in pricing.

Nivus will clash with Taigun in pricing.

Taigun (T Cross) is the SUV that will take on Creta.

T ROC will continue to be sold as CBU.

Taigun will be a Creta competitor, and therefore not within 4 m (in the compact SUV space), as far as I am aware. More like 4.2m, approximately.

Re: Volkswagen India: The Way Forward

Seems like the next launch, after the Taigun, will be the face-lifted Tiguan.
And my SA's strong belief is that it will be the 5 seater, rather than the AllSpace variant.

After hearing that, when I look at the as-yet-unveiled car in Volkman10's post...

it seems quite possible that it's the Tiguan under wraps. The cuts and creases in the bonnet matches the new Tiguan's looks.

Interesting that this journalist is mentioning that the Tiguan will come with a 2.0 ltr engine with AWD. All previous indicators were that it would come with a 1.5 tsi and FWD. If it does come in the specs mentioned in the previous post, i.e AWD, this will be a very tempting prospect. I would definitely be interested.

Re: Volkswagen India: The Way Forward

Volkswagen eyes comeback with Rs 8,000 crore investment.

- The government should allow easier import of parts and do away with special tax benefits reserved only for cars under 4 metres.

- Volkswagen group is eyeing a 5% share of the Indian market by 2025, mainly led by Skoda and VW brands for volumes while luxury ones such as Audi, Porsche and Lamborghini also chipping in

-Skoda is also looking into some of the highly-lucrative segments such as compact SUV, not quite sure whether it will be a hatch, or a crossover or an SUV

- Indian government should also make it easier for companies to import some critical parts from global manufacturing locations.

Re: Volkswagen India: The Way Forward

Skoda is looking at another Sedan above Rapid both in-terms of price and size. Zac Hollis has confirmed this on Twitter. So is this going to be the VW Virtus from other markets positioned in India under both Skoda and VW brands?

I suppose, what he meant was that the Rapid replacement will be bigger than the current Rapid and will be priced too higher than it.

Re: Volkswagen India: The Way Forward

5-seater Tiguan will be sold alongside the three-row Tiguan Allspace.

5-seater Tiguan will miss out on AWD capabilities and come with a front-wheel-drive only setup.

This indeed is a good news for someone who is searching for suitable replacement for Octavia. Current Midsize SUVs just doesn't cut the cake.
