A feather touch for AC controls is only a gimmick I feel....The AC control is something which a driver operates very intuitively, sometimes even without having to look at it while operating, or just a glance for that sake to check...With the feather touch controls, its going to be difficult to precisely operate the controls...I feel its a loss of practicality with no significant benefits...

Its the feather touch for AC controls...I do not feel they serve their function well...

They had the media drive for the 2008 City in Jaipur as well. Looks like a favored destination for Honda India.

I have been having second thoughts about my booking lately.

If the petrol engine specs is the same as the current-gen City, and the diesel engine specs is the same as the Amaze, I might end up cancelling my booking. Both our cars are serving us very well right now, with the Ritz being a delightful companion for the city's nook-and-crannies journeys.

I don't want to get a new car just for a bunch of frill, gimmicky features which are already existing in the market, in other cars. It's pretty much a given that the 2014 City's features will be carried over to the next two generations at least (facelift in 2017, all-new model in 2020), so it makes more sense to wait than get this new one, specially if it is to replace the very practical and sensible Ritz in our garage. The 2014 City doesn't tick too many boxes (specially after the unveiling), except the diesel option and the interior features on offer.

Plus, I love my Pegasus too much to have his rival (for my affections) in our garage right now.

But, I will wait till the official word is out, pricings are announced, and the official Team-BHP review, before taking a final decision. Right now, it's 80-20 in favor of cancelling my booking.

Re: Pics & Report: 2014 Honda City unveiled in India

I personally have a feeling that the power and torque figures will be bumped up in the petrol 2014 City, though those could be marginal. I expect the power to be in the tune of 120 PS (from 118 PS), and the torque in the range of 155 NM (from 146 NM).

We can only tell in January.

Precisely the same reason why we bought our Petrol Honda City of the 3rd generation in October 2013 instead of the 2014 City.

Honda has a peculiar habit of raising prices especially when they change their models. Honda had increased the prices of City in the first week of November 2013 by Rs. 14000/- ex Bhubaneswar from Rs. 880000/- to Rs.894,000/- (SMT model). It is a given that the prices of the 2014 Honda City will be at least Rs. 50000/- more than November base prices.

For a petrol NA engine, this gain is pretty much useless if you think about it. Rather than increasing BHP and Torque just for the sake of it, a bump in power at low revs would be much more practical in case of City.

But then they might have to sacrifice the FE, which any manufacturer would be absolutely loathe to do.

You will be surprised by the number of people who have never taken a city beyond 3K RPM.

That's absolutely correct. I haven't been able to take the City beyond 3K RPM myself, the few times that I've driven it in the city.

Hormazd's tweet after driving the City around Jaipur says he will reveal how good it is on Dec. 17.

Motorbash have uploaded the spy pics of Honda City (after official unveiling on 25th Nov 13). Here is link to their report:

The contributor of the car seems to have driven the car & claims:

"it is great and fun to drive"
No more details or interior pics are available though.

Don't know what is the point in publishing such spy shots. They are not revealing any additional details. The comments of the person who driven car is also too vague. Looks like a Honda Siel/Dealership staff took few photographs and given to the blog for some quick money.

Re: Pics & Report: 2014 Honda City unveiled in India

Looks like a huge media drive is underway at Jaipur at the moment and full details and specs could be out by the 17th of December! Overall, I am not expecting much from this new generation in terms of engine specs. Hope this 4th Gen car out-runs the Amaze diesel and 3rd Gen City for the Diesel and Petrol variants respectively.

Latest price rise helps them reduce the difference in price for the new model vs old model. Current City is overpriced with this hike and hence they can actually offer juicy discounts for the current model (for clearing the unsold cars at dealerships) without taking any hit on their profits. This hike is just on paper since they are not producing current gen City anymore.

They'll also advertise that they are giving a truck load of new features for a comparatively low price hike (rest of the actual hike is masked with the Nov hike) at the time of new model launch in Jan.

Re: Pics & Report: 2014 Honda City unveiled in India

Honda it seems have announced increase in prices again in Jan 2014. For that matter all car makers are announcing one by one that they will increase prices in Jan 2014 which points to a silent agreement by the manufacturers.

So basically it means even if you book a car now and get it delivered by Jan 2014, the price rise is applicable. Unless of course they have ready stock and deliver it right away!!

Even if its a slow month for auto makers or there is a rise in steel prices, periodic increase in prices helps to adjust/retain their profit margins. No wonder the price points have moved.

Re: Pics & Report: 2014 Honda City unveiled in India

I Just found this on the internet

http://www.carwale.com/news/11717-20...s-sighted.html

These guys managed to get a few snaps of the car on the roads.

IMO the car doesn't look that bad from the front as perceived from the launch pictures.

True that. The front does look much more aggressive in these pictures. Also the car sort of looks wider.

I guess the badging is masking the variants more than anything else. Strangely the front grill doesn't appear to be chrome'd as much as the launch pictures. Maybe cause of the bad light.

Cardeep posted this, but from another website, just hours ago. Same pictures making rounds now :-)
