here you go grand i10 is getting launched with auto box for diesel variants. I am sure you'll see many more in the coming year. Another in the price range is Scorpio automatic SUV, which has a nice Bosch 6 speed auto.

Re: Pics & Report: 2014 Honda City unveiled in India

So the sales team called me to ask what model to put my booking under (it has to go onto some online booking portal of Honda after the dealership receives the money) and i said Petrol Automatic. He said ok sir, shall do that. I asked him whether there is a chance of a Diesel AT and he kept quiet mysteriously. I asked again and he told me that he is not allowed to speak till the launch happens. I asked him if there was a diesel AT he had heard about, i would like to put my money in line for that and he said- never know sir, till the launch i cannot say a word. I kept perstering him and he never gave me a proper answer.

Is it possible that Honda has an auto diesel planned?

So im guessing a price in the range of 10.5-11.25L.

Is the Vx AT available with sunroof? Atleast as an option? My sales guy has no clue and says that only when the variants come they will know.

Have already got 2 calls from Honda thanking me for my enquiry and when I ask them this, they keep on talking in auto mode as if reading from some paper

Re: Pics & Report: 2014 Honda City unveiled in India

It was rumoured that Honda was supposed to have equipped the City 2014 with an 1.6 engine, to take care of ACC (Auto Climate Control). Now that it has not happened, would this be a concern (1.5 Ltr engine with ACC)?

I bet there are thousands of us willing to buy a Automatic diesel sedan if priced right.
The best bet diesel auto tranny are available only in Laura/ Jetta/ octavia/ superb segment which atleast is not affordable by me.
Verna is the cheapest diesel AT currently available. But its not selling too much I guess. The i10 grande diesel might be they cheapest AT if launched.Guessing all diesel AT lovers are glued to this thread on T-bhp

But you are right. If Honda was coming with a Diesel AT they would have shouted from the rooftops.

I think in view of Honda planning an only "one car" strategy to compete in the C+and D segment, it's very much plausible that they bring a diesel AT to the market as well since there is no case from there portfolio to get cannibalized in the next segment. Infact the AT box might be a reason for some customers to opt for Honda and not the D segment cars.

Does this matter in case of an automatic diesel if at all? Just thinking out loud, an extremely frugal diesel automatic almost sells itself.

This will be disappointing for many prospective buyers.

In my opinion they could have delayed the unveil and work more on the diesel engine instead of this hurried launch. Auto Expo 2014 would have been the best platform to launch a 'powerful' diesel Honda City!

Re: Pics & Report: 2014 Honda City unveiled in India

I just had a look at 'The car and Bike show' featuring the Tokyo motor show and the new City.

I was a critic of the new city design and looks and especially the cockpit layout. I must say, the car actually looks very different when you see it live/ BIG TV
I know a lot of you said the same thing about waiting to see the actual car.
I'm not a believer yet, but more curious now to check the car out in person.

Truely disappointing. Just thinking out loud. VW is doing it with The 1.6 Polo and the Vento,Hyundai does the same between the Verna and Elantra, almost all the Marutis are on one engine,Fiat has the Punto and Linea. Why not Honda?.Kitna deti hai? Always outsells power in our market. Also I guess it's easier on the costs for the companies. Every company fears that it might out price their product. Classic case being the New Octavia, which by November dispatch stats has recorded a mediocre 300 units. I guess Skoda will be in a mad scramble to bring in the 1.6 litre engine now. Could be wrong though.

Honda had 6 years to work on this. I'm sure they went according to what was planned. Unfortunate, but true, mileage alone will appeal the masses (remember the kitna dethi hai advert?) and 99% of buyers are not in team bhp and not begging for more bhp. The few aspiring for more will be disappointed - we are the minorities and Honda's sales surely will flourish. First the design was a disappointment and now the engine. I'm now getting more and more convinced on not buying the City. Wondering what else? If they get the pricing wrong, I will be very happy. It will help my decision making!

Interesting. I was thinking of cancelling my Amaze booking and go for City expecting a better performance but now there is simply no point in doing so. Disappointing indeed.

Shouldn't torque be increased, since it is a bigger car than Amaze?

Re: Pics & Report: 2014 Honda City unveiled in India

I've heard the Amaze doesn't justify/deliver on its paper bhp and torque figures. Maintaining the same for the City will only mean disappointment for enthusiasts. Probably they want to make the sedan class a level playing field for Maruti YL1 (with respect to power, etc).

Honda, otherwise, will make great sales claiming excellent fuel efficiency that Indians want. No doubting that.
