re: Ford Figo-based compact sedan - The Aspire

Global debut of Ford compact sedan concept at Auto Expo 2014 - no launch of the Global hatchback.

Quote:
The production version of this all-new sedan is essentially the three-box derivative of the next-generation Figo (Codename: B562), and will replace the Fiesta Classic when it goes on sale in 2015.
Built on the same B2E platform as the Ford EcoSport, the production version of this saloon concept will be powered by a 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol motor and the trusted 1.5-litre DV5 turbo-diesel.

This is the rendering as per above ACI report, which also confirms earlier renderings:

^^ Looks neat and compact. Personally i didn't like hatch that much, but sedan is looking much better. Hatch is a completely new car and loses the character of the current Figo. They should replace Classic with this car. Hopefully interiors will be good.

How sure are about this being sub 4m ? boot looks well integrated and Considering size of Figo, we wont have so much space left to have such a nice boot.

Got this in a mailer today and I thought this is the upcoming Mondeo (them hopes). Sadly, now it seems like a Amaze-contender as per your ACI report:

re: Ford Figo-based compact sedan - The Aspire

A news item appearing in Hindustan Times today "Delhi Edition" has reported the lauch of concept Ford Figo Sedan. It will hit the Indian roads sometimes next year. Though, Ford plans to take Maruti Dezire and Honda Amaze head on with this launch but little do they realize that it may be too late by the time they launch this car.

In a way it's good. Ford India is a company which can NOT handle success.

Sometime next year is too late to be newsworthy now.

That is correct. The way they have botched up the EcoSport deliveries, they do not deserve to have blockbuster models coz they may just export them instead of selling them here!

Coming back to the concept, the tail lamp resembles a lot with the erstwhile Fiat Siena and front the Aston Martin Vanquish.

Seems like it was designed by DC

re: Ford Figo-based compact sedan - The Aspire

The rear end of the car IMO looks completely out of sync with the overall proportions and looks like a quick hash job to get it into sub 4 meter class. The long tapering headlights will require a boot of equally big proportions and smart angular rear lights to "balance" the overall look. Amaze has managed this compromise the best i feel.

re: Ford Figo-based compact sedan - The Aspire

Saw this entry on the popular import-export tracker website Zauba.com.Looks like the Ford Figo Sedan launch is closeby.

Do note that this imported example has the same 1.5 TiVCT engine as the Ecosport. If they do launch it with same power output as the Ecosport, this could well turn out to be the first sub-4m Hot sedan!

It's not just one, but, 3 cars that have been imported by Ford for R&D. There are two 5-door models (hatchback) and one 4-door (sedan). While the sedan and one hatchback have a 1.5-litre TiVCT petrol engine, the other hatchback has a 1.2-litre TiVCT unit.

Going by how long it took for them to launch Ecosport after running around uncamouflaged, it looks like at least 6 months away if they just imported these.

Yes, a 110 PS sub 4m sedan will be quite hot for sure. But will also be quite expensive - as this will miss the Tax exemption due to its engine size being larger than 1.2L. And IMHO, the 1.5 Ti-VCT is not as fun to drive as the 1.6 DuraTec in the Classic.
