Infact for someone like me who is looking for an upgrade to the Altis, I would be ok for the 1.4 TSI Comfortline if it had the 7 speed DSG like other countries. My running is lesser and a petrol works fine but needs to be an AT.

I would have definitely bought a CL+DSG if it was available! I didn't find value in the HL DSG (over CL as safety features are same) for the premium being charged for the cosmetics! The difference from CL MT to HL DSG was a steep 4 lakhs including the extended warranty for that piece of mind. I didn't consider the Octavia Ambition DSG because it skimped on airbags, poor ride with those torsion beams at the rear, unknown wait list (& my older car was on Octavia).

The previous generation HL was priced around 24 lakhs OTR bangalore and I expect the new one to be close to 27 lakhs. At this rate even if they do launch CL DSG it would be priced around the old HL price. Given a choice between the octavia and the jetta I would lean towards the jetta just for that rear suspension

Points well taken but this is limited to a certain segment of buyers. I still believe the masses are more comfortable with manuals. Though this trend will change soon with the introduction of more fun to drive automatics sub 15l, from the feedback that I have received from dealers, most inquiries they get are for manuals. Agreed that this is also driven by the fact that the automatic is much dearer which makes it less vfm as compared to other variants.

Even though I'm coming from a higher segment, I'm a huge fan of the jetta but I do agree that the lack of features is a let down. Yes a certain amount of customers are lost by vw to skoda for cheaper dsg variants but I believe that vw is slow to react in general to customers as vs a skoda so unless they feel some real pressure, lower variants in dsg are unlikely. That being said, I hope I'm proven wrong because the jetta is a fantastic car.

From what the dealers have to say, its about a 1.5l rise but that's not a concrete prediction. Even with the rise, I'm hoping that the new hl dsg doesn't disappoint. Planning to book one on launch.

My guess of 27 lakhs is based on the present price of the Octavia DSG in the elegance trim. I'm inclined to believe that the HL will be priced on par. Prices quoted are OTR Bangalore

Well done man. Looks like the HL. Guess the sunroof rumor can be put to rest. Alloys look great, so does the front

This would make mighty sense even without the sunroof as long as they don't skimp on the airbags and the multi link suspension and of course they price it around 25-26 OTR Bangalore

The alloys haven't changed. They are the same Atlanta alloys being bundled with the current highline variants. The lower trims get the Sedona variant which has also been spotted and posted in this thread.

Seems like trainings have started. Here are the images of interiors as well. This one is a manual but has cruise control. Too many controls on the steering wheel! I like the front though, seems matured and premium. However, I think VW family needs to spice up things inside now.

Music system and surroundings are not done in either glossy black or silver finish! I wonder why..

That looks like the comfortline diesel MT. No LED lights and no xenon projectors seems to indicate this. Even on inside the head unit is non touch screen which is the case in comfortline.

Interesting to see even the comfortline gets dual zone climate control.

re: Rumour: VW Jetta facelift launching soon in India *EDIT: launched!*

Was talking to one of the fleet maintenance company executives and an interesting point came up. Seems like the profile of people who buy VW/Skoda is more likely, rather with some majority are those who have had some experience with Europe. There are other buyers too, but its more likely that you tend to buy in a VW family if you have driven it or sat in one before, or seen a lot of them on the road, in the masses. This is a distinction that the executive made for continental cars v/s the Japanese which seem to be more closer to the general Indian buyer. An interesting thought when I see the new Jetta. All these upgrades and discussions on the specifics of each new/lost/upgraded feature is actually being consumed by a very little fraction of the market. If you see the combined sales of Jetta+Octavia(Laura) v/s Japanese + Korean (not a fair bucketing, but still) there is not much of a difference, but once you climb one segment lower (C1, C2), there seems to be such a starch difference Vento + Rapid v/s City + Verna + the Maruthis. I think the executive's analysis needs a deeper look. A potential Jetta/Octavia onwer has a higher probability of experiencing the VW family in its home turf than a C1/C2 owner, not sure? I mean if you try to fit the profile v/s the actual sales, irrespective of validity if such an analysis I tend to think that the VW family needs to shed their "Foreign" image and try to relate to the Indian buyer on a more personal basis. I mean look at the "India comes home in a Maruthi" ad v/s the "Das Auto" ad of VW. What is the impression and the penetration of the brand into the Indian buyer's heart (the pocket pays but still the heart decides where to pay!). I guess VW (and since the Jetta is such a competent car) needs to address this issue before they make new launches and upgrades. The competency and capability of the car matter too especially if its a 2 million Rupee car, but the fear of the unknown as I can put it is what is holding back VW in selling the numbers (relevant numbers for each segment). The Jetta has what it takes to really outperform the Corolla, Elantra and (if I should really mention the Cruze). Past numbers don't say so, would just a refresh/upgrade help it? To a lesser extent, maybe. To sum it up, you don't expect each customer to travel to Stuttgart, to make up their mind to visit a VW dealer,do you?

Comfortline has had dual zone climatronic for a while now. So thats not new. The system is the RCD 320 so thats not new either. What is new is the steering with way more controls on it than before.

Happy that I bought the car six months ago, nothing much seems to have changed.

re: Rumour: VW Jetta facelift launching soon in India *EDIT: launched!*

The RCD 320 unit on a 14+ L car is a blasphemy! VW should have given the RCD 510 with the basic 9W2 bluetooth module on the Trendline and Comfortline variants.

I suppose the current Highline models comes with the 9W7 module which can read entries from the telephone book?

The cruise control buttons have moved from the left stalk to the steering wheel's left spoke.
