Re: Rumour: Maruti Suzuki developing YRA B+ segment hatchback

I for one cannot somehow see any freshness in the design. Seems to be a mish mash of few existing designs. In fact we haven't got any exciting designs (IMO) from Suzuki after the Swift. They seem to have gone bankrupt on the design front!!

Re: Rumour: Maruti Suzuki developing YRA B+ segment hatchback

ET reports that the YRA has a possible launch date of May 2015.
This is based on Maruti's advertising account for a B-segment car won by Hakuhodo Percept. The ad is targeted for May 2015, and B-segment points to YRA.

Re: Rumour: Maruti Suzuki developing YRA B+ segment hatchback

Maruti Suzuki premium hatch likely to be called Fronx. How weird can this naming be?

Now spied at the Maruti Suzuki's premises.

Quote:
Visually it seems this will be the widest hatchback available in India. The YRA also stands tall with a better wheelbase and considerable ground clearance

Under the hood, Maruti Suzuki Fronx / YRA come three engine options, a K10C – 998cc BOOSTERJET engine with automatic/manual transmission, a K12 engine which is seen in the Swift and a D13- 1248cc 90ps diesel motor. The K10C engine is likely to get the Start-Stop technology while the K12C spec 1242 CC engine might be for export only.

Call those who are responsible for this name as "Frogs".

How come the present people at Maruti are so stupid and "frogs" in the well, that they name cars like Ertiga, Fronx, Celerio, Ciaz, Eeco and Brezza? Why can't they name the cars as earlier, when they used popular or stylish ones like Swift, Esteem, Gypsy and Zen? The name itself can do a lot of wonders to the cars.

Name this car as SuperSwift. Or SuperZen, anyone?

Hi All,

Bit OT, couldnt find a more relevant thread: With the advent of the YRA, will the Ritz be stopped from production, as popular auto portals are mentioning in last few days?

Thanks,
Abhishek

Fronx! I'm not even going to touch with a barge pole a car having such a name. Who is behind these weirdo names, Celerio,Across and all. Hope they don't name the next as Behind!

Good they have covered it up, otherwise birds passing by might not only crap on it but spit on it after reading the name 'Fronx'

Re: Rumour: Maruti Suzuki developing YRA B+ segment hatchback

What kind of a name is that?! Fronx? Maruti could have come up with a better name. This name will be pronounced wrongly a lot of times and the car will often be called Frock. Owners will have to be careful when they announce the purchase
Hoping that the interior quality would be better or on par with the Elite i20 otherwise the Fronx will be at a big disadvantage.

Re: Rumour: Maruti Suzuki developing YRA B+ segment hatchback

What's the fixation about huge bumpers. It ruins the design. First, it was swift, now this. It looks like a wide A-star from rear.

Re: Rumour: Maruti Suzuki developing YRA B+ segment hatchback

There was a time when Maruti used to name their vehicles based on their merit:

Zen for the elegant cute hatch
Gypsy for the off-roader
Esteem for their then-premium sedan
Swift for the stylish supermini
Omni for the ultrasmall van

Nowadays, the name of cars from Maruti stable are horrible to the core - whether it is Eeco, Ertiga, Celerio, Brezza and this Fronx. The problem with these stupid names is, it cannot be associated with any brand value by its own.

Considering the features and passenger-centric design of this hatch, and to make use of the iconic Zen brand name, I would suggest the name SuperZen.

Think creatively, Maruti!

Re: Rumour: Maruti Suzuki developing YRA B+ segment hatchback

Suzuki has not confirmed if the new 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine will make its way to the Indian market in the near future.

The YRA hatchback will be positioned above the Swift when it goes on sale internationally and in India sometime next year.
