New Toyota compact SUV likely to debut in November 2019



This new compact SUV is expected to be a replacement to the popular Toyota Rush that is sold in multiple markets abroad. There are talks that this new SUV could be the “new global” Toyota Rush and will be sold in more markets than the outgoing model.

This new compact SUV will be based on a version of Toyota's TNGA platform that is called the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA). Interestingly, the new Toyota compact SUV will be powered by a 1.0-litre three cylinder petrol engine and will come with two and four-wheel drive options as well, according to sources.

In which country? India- perhaps forgot and I don't think they make in Diesel any longer.

Aware that the D22 project is the only affordable Toyota we are getting, but would love to see the Rush or Avanza sold in India.
Yes, they are basic Daihatsus, have no diesels and the 1.5l petrol engine is kinda average. But they are a perfect fit for our suburban/rural roads and traffic.

BTW, not sure of the plates this car has, but the chrome accessories overdose makes it suspect if this is some third party testing or private imports

Can give some serious competition to the Ertiga/XL6 if launched.

But IIRC Toyota is going to rebadge the Ertiga and launch it. I don’t see any place for the Rush in their lineup unless they launch this between their ‘Ertiga’ and the Crysta. But then the purpose of being competitors will be defeated.

Toyota INNOVA Indonesia price: 332 - 484 Million Rp
Toyota RUSH Indonesia price: 259 - 281 Million Rp

So as a ballpark anywhere between 25-30% cheaper than the Innova, ie. a seven seater Toyota UV for approx. 15 lacs.

While many might see this as being quite high priced, there are plenty out there who are willing to pay the premium for the Toyota badge/ownership experience.

Also taking into account current circumstances it's highly unlikely to be priced any lower, because Toyota will not fool around with their margins. Considering the chip shortage and material inflation, the Japanese giant will have no interest in simply pushing volumes when demand is currently outstripping supply.

Rebadge it as the Qualis and it could set cash registers ringing.

Pretty sure its from Nepal, about two years back I saw a Rush from Nepal in India.
