Whether it is an Eeco on WagonR platform or a WagonR on the lines of Eeco, you are correct that India need a 7-seater small city 'luxury' car at around 5L. This is evident from seeing the number of spruced up Eecos on roads.

re: Wagon R 7-Seater revealed; India launch in June 2019 (page 5)

Wagon R Based 7 Seater MPV May Launch As A Nexa Offering In June 2019.

Quote:
The likelihood of the car being badged Solio, or carrying an altogether new name are also high. This is because the company would like to have a separation from the Wagon R.
Quote:
The car with the powerhouse brand - Maruti Suzuki Wagon R - recently moved to a larger platform and new engines at the start of the year. One of the key reasons Maruti did that was to be able to also sport a larger wheelbase 3-row MPV version of the car with a 7-Seater USP. That vehicle is now ready for launch, and is likely to be sold exclusively through Nexa
Quote:
The reason Maruti wants to go the Nexa way is that the car in question will be fairly well loaded in terms of equipment, and will also offer a more premium interior. That will also allow Maruti Suzuki to take on the upcoming Renault Triber - which too will offer 7-Seater capability
Quote:
In the future, there would also be a hybrid and then possibly an EV variant of the same car. This too is another reason to start with Nexa.
Quote:
The new model is expected to share the Wagon R's K12M 1.2 litre petrol engine. The 82 bhp motor also has 113 Nm of peak torque, and is high on fuel efficiency

This seems to be a false news. Nobody has spotted such a test mule. The author might have got leads about a 7-seater to be launched in Nexa and might have interpreted as Wagon-R 7 seater, while in reality, it may be the Ertiga Cross.

The buzz around a 7-seat Wagon-r has been there since years. The project was initially shelved because of low volume expectations. May be the project has been revived internally. I personally see a decent potential in such a low cost 7-seat (below Ertiga) product. If Datsun is able to sell 300-400 units of GO+ a month, Maruti can easily do 10 times of that. Renault's to be launched MPV is also said to be targeting the same segment.

Technically, both WagonR and Ertiga are now on the same platform (Heartect). So if NDTV gets the news of a WagonR Based 7-seater for Nexa, it could well be an Ertiga for Nexa too!

From what I know, yes there is something coming for Nexa, but Dont think it will be a WagonR.

Unless this is confirmed by someone's birdie, this reeks of fake/click bait news. Nexa is expected to get a 6 seater Ertiga variant, but as stated by previous post, no such 7 seater version of Wagon-R is spotted yet.

Bringing a WagonR-based product through NEXA will be detrimental to the premium image of these outlets. It makes more sense to keep the more economical WagonR-based MPV at Arena outlets and move the Ertiga to NEXA.

Maruti's XL5 on the prowl!

The XL5 is a premium version of the Wagon R with updated styling and features.

It is expected to be powered by the same 1.2-litre K12 petrol engine from the Wagon R.

Maruti will sell the XL5 through its Nexa chain of dealerships.

Expect a small premium over the Wagon R’s pricing.

Surprised to see these pics watermarked by ZigWheels as I had clicked both the pics and had shared it in only one whatsapp group.

Attaching both the pictures.

Shady journalism. Shoddy ethics. The goodwill of the portal will go up if the source is acknowledged and thanked, or best permission requested for publishing.

Im waiting for XL3 which would be the Nexa iteration of the S-Presso! Seriously, what is this strategy? Get every Maruti car its Nexa iteration? And shamelessly give it a complete new name and call it a brand new car?
Suzuki has enough cars in its range to support two kind of dealerships, The Nexa now has the Ciaz, Baleno which are good sellers too, and its been joined by the Ertiga derived XL6.
In the long run this will affect the credibility of the Nexa brand when the product offering starts overlapping.

Frankly NEXA was NEVER premium.

You wouldn't expect a manufacturer to sell unsafe cars (READ heartect platform) with un-premium features (poor NVH on XL as an example)

NEXA is just another sales channel for Maruti.
