I am curious to know about :

1. the performance of the 7 speed DSG
2. rear seat comfort & spaciousness in city driving ( make that stop and go traffic)
3. suspension
4. power delivery/tractability of the 1197 cc turbo petrol four cylinder engine

Regards
issigonis
Points 1 and 4 have been covered in my review as well as reviews from other Polo GT TSI owners. In summary, both are brilliant and will bring a smile to your face every time you press down on the accelerator.

For point 2, Frankly, I have never been in the rear seat yet. But feedback has been that it is very comfortable. Benchmarks are my previous SX4 and an Etios. Input from my family is that the recline of the rear seat is just right and the leg space is good enough. The rear AC vents and the airy interiors make it a good place to be in. Also, since the DSG and the TSI are super smooth, there is minimal to no noise inside the car and since the shifts are smooth, the passengers do not feel it at all. This is true in the stop-go city traffic also. The only time the shifts are felt is during very hard braking when the gear drops to 2nd. There is a jerk which can be felt

Suspension I feel is a good balance between ride and handling. Average roads are handled well and is not felt too much in the cabin.

hi !

1) The performance of the 7 speed DSG is definitely something which is miles ahead of the other automatics I have driven . One grouse though is the sudden downshifts especially when braking hard.It caught me by surprise initially though now i am getting used to it .
2) Rear seat comfort is pretty good as per feedback received from the family and friends.I feel it is spacious enough for a family of 4 plus maybe a kid when one of the family member is driving . City driving is a breeze ; though I feel my i10 automatic more sprightlier for the city drives ( purely because of the size factor only)
3)Suspension seems just the right balance between comfort and drivability.
4) I just cannot get over the fact that both my cars have the same engine cubic capacity yet are so very very different in the way they deliver the power ( of course the TSI is aided by the turbocharger ). The TSI is just too good. I would have loved to have had the 1.4 engine on the Vento though.

All said and done i think the best solution to get over your curiosity is probably to just drive one. I am sure you'll not like to drive anything else again .

Re: VW Vento TSI Launched at Rs.9.99 lakhs

Hi Guys,
Got the delivery of my Pepper Grey beauty on Saturday.
Things I noticed
1. Mine has come with Apollo ALNAC 4G tyres
Not sure if they are better or worse than the Acelere
2. The horn is awful. Its nowhere like the one that came with earlier models
Not sure if there is an issue with mine
3. Spare is non alloy and space saver

Other than this I am super impressed with the car.
DSG is simply outstanding. It reads your mind so well you dont miss the manual shift much and the 1.2 TSI has enough grunt

There is a run-in period of 1K-1.5K so havent really red lined it yet

Congratulations crazyro, wish you many safe miles on your VW Vento TSI. Apollo is now OE to worldwide VW and Alnac 4G are Low Noise Tyres from their stable.

Congrats!
Horn is awful means it is not audible inside the cabin? My Polo TSI horn is really loud and I feel there are 2 horns - one for outside world and another for the driver and passengers!

Space saver????
Thank god my Polo came with a full size spare, that too an alloy!

P.S. yes, I also have Apollo Alnac tyres. Never heard about them before. No idea what kind of tyres these are. Let's see.

Congratulation on your new ride.

Have you checked the alloys(does it have Made in Spain)?. According to some posts in the Polo GT TSi thread, VW has started giving replica alloys(Initial batches of GTs used to have genuine "Made in Spain" alloys)

Unfortunately cant see the "Made in Spain" stamp on the alloys. So I guess I have got the replicas.
Update on mileage.
My Mumbai - Pune run gave me around 7 l/100 km which is around 14
My daily run to office (average speed 20) is giving me 9 l/100 km which is around 11
This is with 100% AC and run-in period driving
Slightly less than my earlier ride City ANHC but I expect it should go up a bit with time

Re: VW Vento TSI Launched at Rs.9.99 lakhs

There is 0% interest(for a tenure of 36 months) scheme on Vento. I am not sure whether this deal is applicable for the TSi.

But those were meant specifically for the Estrada alloys which are installed on the Polo. Were the Vento’s Lakeside alloys previously imported? Older Vento owners could confirm.

Btw a brief Google search yields this - a Melbourne based Polo owner has posted some snaps of his Lakeside alloys for sale in a different forum (link) and upon a closer inspection of the images, 'Borbet ZA' is clearly visible on one of the spokes:

VW Vento TSI Launched at Rs.9.99 lakhs-polowheels018.jpg

The OEM was Borbet and the wheels were probably imported from their South Africa plant.

Re: VW Vento TSI Launched at Rs.9.99 lakhs

HI

Just wanted to inform all the TSi owners that the extended warranty is currently available for purchase for a period of 2 years . It is available for 41000 INR if purchased with in 365 days from the date of purchase . It gets a little bit costlier after that.

I just a call from VW mount road regarding this for my Vento TSi.

POLO GT TSi owners please ask your dealers .

41000 is outright loot. As it is VW is known for loot. Recently they changed my front number plate and charged me 2500 in bill.
45000 for front bumper change + painting + rear bumper paint touch up.

Just checked with palace cross Bangalore, interest scheme is not valid for TSI, it is only for 2013 cars. Absolutely no discount on TSI and waiting period is 2 to 3 months

Thanks for the update. Looking around at the extended warranty cost for C segment sedans, 10-12000 seems the average cost. So this is 4 times that. Looks like a premium for the DSG.
