Re: The next-generation Ford Endeavour. EDIT: Now spotted testing in India

Going by the spy shots of the new Fortuner, Ford India must be rubbing their hands in glee. In one fell swoop, toyota will vacate the "macho" spot to the new endeavour. Now all Ford has to do is to price this one aggressively with a starting price under 20L, and this will be a success!

Re: The next-generation Ford Endeavour. EDIT: Now spotted testing in India

It looks the part and the interiors do put some of its competitors (except Santa Fe) to shame. However I do think that they will increase the price of this by 3-4 L of the current model and will be on par with the Fortuner.

Surely looks a lot more rugged than the out going model. This one is going to sell if priced correctly. Gentle tap on Toyota's shoulder.

Re: The next-generation Ford Endeavour. EDIT: Now spotted testing in India

I am keenly following Ford Everest/Endeavor and Ranger (on whose platform it is built on) in various markets where Ford has either launched or is going to launch these vehicle like Thailand, Philippines, Australia and South Africa.

My inference about Ford's marketing department is as follows:

1. In Thailand auto show they showcase the product and launch it. Website has all the possible details, including pricing. But no media reviews and no deliveries for next 6 months.

2. They follow similar approach in Philippines.

2. In Australia their Ranger is selling well but it has very long waiting period. Can't they properly anticipate demand and supply appropriate number of vehicles?

3. Doesn't this give enough time for the competitors (read chiefly Toyota) to better their products (read HiLux and Fortuner)?

4. That's what Toyota precisely did. They launched All new HiLux Revo in Thailand and promptly deliveries started the same day with spectacular marketing and advertising which followed for next three days. Toyota not only matched HiLux with Ford's Ranger in certain areas they even bettered it in some other areas (read Rear AC vents). With the amount of goodwill HiLux and Fortuner enjoy in various markets it's not surprising to see Ford failing to catch up with Toyota.

5. I don't understand this suicidal approach of Ford which I would like to call the KLPD approach.

6. If Ford follow the same strategy in India for Endeavor as they followed for Ecosport I don't see them giving any significant fight to Toyota.

7. Product quality by the way is really good (read Ranger and by that extension Endeavor) but Ford has to fix their crappy marketing and supply issues to be successful in any market.

Regards.

Re: The next-generation Ford Endeavour. EDIT: Now spotted testing in India

If new Endeavor is as good as the review says, I'm so tempted to exchange my 2014 Fortuner with this.

Where are the reviews of new Endeavor? Ford hasn't invited media to review Everest/Endeavor yet anywhere in the world. It is expected to be good because the utility vehicle it is built on (the Ranger) is really good.

We still don't know whether Ford has fixed the 2nd row seating, ride quality etc., which were Achilles heel of first generation endeavor.

Regards.

Sorry I meant based on the first impressions. I have quite few blogs which will give a fair idea on the product.

But yes you are right, we have to wait and see it in Flesh.

Ford need to learn from Hyundai. Delaying the Endeavour launch will end up in a favor for New fortuner.

"The Creta was initially expected to be launched in August, but with the Maruti’s S-Cross coming in July, Hyundai rescheduled the launch, to keep one of the main rivals in check"

Hyundai Marketing at its best !

Hyundai Marketing at its best !
Ford should learn from both Maruti and Hyundai.

They should learn to accurately estimate demand and keep up with supply from Maruti. From Hyundai they should learn to give importance to domestic market rather than exports.

Till now Ford's India strategy could be taught in business schools as "How to screw up a great product = example Ford Ecosport" and "how to kill a product at the time of launch by pricing it beyond comprehension(initial pricing) = Fiesta".

They launch a great product in the form of Ecosport and create a new segment and initially get the pricing bang on. They underestimate the demand and manage to anger people by exporting more Ecosports than selling in the local market. After a few months they become greedy and increase prices and drop some key features from some trims. That works like the final nail in the coffin. Imagine after more than a year they are still not able to narrow the gap between demand and supply.

Coming back to Endeavor. First generation Endeavor was an inferior product compared to first generation Fortuner. With Fortuner's looks and low cost of ownership and spectacular resale backed by Toyota's formidable A.S.S meant that Fortuner got a free run.

Thankfully with better products like Endeavor and Trailblazer arriving in near future Fortuner's market dominance may come down.

Re: The next-generation Ford Endeavour. EDIT: Now spotted testing in India

Ford has finally, officially released prices and specifications for the 2015 Ford Everest (Endeavor in India) 4WD wagon in Australia.

Pricing is absurd. It goes head on with Mitsubishi Pajero, Toyota Prado and Land Rover Discovery.

I tried configuring on their website and OTR prices Sydney for top of the line Titanium comes to whopping 84,460 AU $ (with current exchange rate that come to 41.5 Lakhs INR).

Source and further details can be found here:

Deliveries start in October (Same KLPD approach).

Previous gen was not sold in Australia. Because it's based on Ford Ranger which is a big hit in Australia it's success might have convinced Ford to price Everest exorbitantly.

Other UTE based wagons like Chevy's Colorado 7 (Trailblazer in India), Mitsubishi's Challenger (Pajero Sport in India) and Isuzu's MU-X (MU-7 in India) are much much cheaper.

We have to see how Toyota Australia prices Fortuner later this year. Sure they cannot price it anywhere close to Prado, that would be suicidal.

Regards.

Don't go by the Australian pricing as it is an expensive market due to lower volumes. Although not as taxing as India but still the automotive pricing is certainly a bit higher than other countries. Also the local manufacturing has shut shop recently which means the prices are a bit on the higher side. Volume should give us a bit of an edge, which should mean the prices will be a bit similar to the current gen, albeit a little higher.
