re: The next-generation Ford Endeavour. EDIT: Now spotted testing in India

Ford will introduce the new generation Endeavour in India, with two engine options.

Quote:
One is the 2.2-litre diesel engine and the other is the 3.2-litre diesel engine. The 2.2-litre diesel engine will produce 148bhp of power and 385Nm of maximum torque, 3.2-litre five-cylinder diesel engine will produce 197bhp of power and 470Nm of peak torque. Both these cylinders will be made available with six-speed manual and automatic transmission.

re: The next-generation Ford Endeavour. EDIT: Now spotted testing in India

As per Indian Auto Blogs 2016 Ford Endeavour with 3.2L diesel engine imported to India for R&D – IAB Report one new Endeavour/Everest has arrived in India. Would we see spy shots from Indian roads soon !!

From the article
Quote:
According to import-export website Zauba.com, one unit of the new 2016 Ford Endeavour (new Ford Everest) has been imported to Chennai, India, for R&D purposes. The new Endeavour imported for R&D duty is fitted with the range-topping 3.2-liter five-cylinder diesel engine, which is one of three engines announced for the new SUV.

Apart from the 3.2-liter diesel, Ford has announced a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol and a 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel as well. The company said that the new Endeavour will be available in 2WD and 4WD depending on specific market requirements.
The link to Zauba site lists a new Ford Everest with a VIN number arriving at Chennai and is listed as having value 2,120,897 INR. That should give some idea on pricing (there would be duties and other stuff of course) or is it very early to take a call on that?

Good to know that they would offer manual & automatic transmission on all engine options, unlike today wherein the 2.5 gets manual and 3.0 gets automatic.

Cheers

The interior of what appears to be an entry-level 2015 Ford Endeavour (Everest) has been snapped in Australia.

The handbrake position looks cramped between seat and extended center console.

And whats that red knob to the rear left of handbrake? Looks like a power shut-off switch.
Is this a test vehicle? can see a controller and some wires near passenger seat.

I own the current generation, pre-facelift Endeavour.

The interiors, gadgets, new 3.2L engine and the technology are all a big step ahead when compared to the current generation, but, i somehow don't like the looks of this new Endeavour. To me, this latest Endeavour looks more like a modified Sumo Grande.

Yes, that should be a pre build vehicle for test purpose. Majority of the manufacturers will have this emergency stop button as a must have on their test vehicles since this comes as a safety requirement. There will be provisions to record all vehicle datas from these mileage accumulation units.

Cheers!

If I am not thoroughly mistaken, those are 2 bottles with some fancy looking caps. The wire could be of an USB charger.

If you had missed my post above those are mandatory switches called as emergency stop / engine kill switch ( technical jargon)
The wire connectors will be connected to the laptops which records all the vital data during the vehicle test. Sometimes a vehicle may have upto three test engineer monitoring many different attributes.

Cheers

Sad no 4x4 manual with low range and may be lockable diff. This one is for the urban yuppie/showoff.

Thanks for this post.
Finally some clarity on the 2015 Everest.
The 3.2 4x4 AT looks good. Fulltime 4wd with all the extra goodies. Unimpressive front end and a butch looking overall stance.
If they price this thing even close to or slightly lesser than the Fortuner, then It will eat a very large chunk of the Toyota pie.

Can anyone shed light on the cost of ownership / maintenance of owning a FORD Endeavour. Because we all know, owning a Toyota Fortuner is extremely cheap on the maintenance front.
