My god! I knew it would be a looker but perhaps now that I can see the whole car, its sheer length makes for one hell of a sleek package. This design is definitely flawless (hope those chrome accents on the front and rear bumper from the Chinese model are atleast available as accessories)

Lovely to get clean shots of the interiors too and nice to see capacitive buttons on the touchscreen but regular analogue/physical keys for things like climate control (an ergonomic fault in the city is that it uses capacitive buttons for everything)

Last but not the least, WOW it looks terrific in maroon which has become a colour a lot of cars these days, can't carry very well.

Wow! What a beauty!

The zig wheels photo in that beige colour puts in right on top of the looks department in my books!

Good job and great effort from Maruti Suzuki. This is what is called a strike-back! Indeed the effort till ceiling, shows!
The dash looks fabulous along with the front-end. I just love the design of the whole car be it inside and outside.

OT:- Hadn't dad bought the Ertiga, this would have been the car in the garage.

Honda, now you have something to worry!

Nice.
Really liked the maroon color and I hope they give those alloys in production versions too.

Interior quality looks quite good but I hate all that excess of beige used. It's gone be a real pain to maintain. All in all I am impressed with what I am seeing.

Will be interesting to know the power to weight ratio of Ciaz. In pics it's looking quite big so I am apprehensive of how will the 1.3 engine hold with 5 people and luggage in boot.

Btw is Team Bhp invited for the media drive?

re: Team-BHP SCOOP: Maruti Ciaz / YL1. Scoop Pics on Page 99

Kudos to Maruti Suzuki. This car has the potential to be the best looking car in the segment. The car is well proportioned, has a nice face, is sleek and the side profile, esp. the rear quarter reeks of a segment much above than what the Ciaz actually belongs too. The competitors will have a tough time for sure.

The Honda City is little quirky from some angles. The new grille is not up to everyone's liking whereas the VW Vento has a nice classic design but is now aged. The Hyundai Verna is again a good looking car, but not everyone appreciates the fluidic concept. Then we have the Skoda Rapid: Beautiful; but no takers for obvious reasons and then the Toyota Etios which is definitely not the one which may win a beauty contest.

This can make Ciaz crack the looker's market. Can't wait to see it in flesh and of course, the TBHP review.

re: Team-BHP SCOOP: Maruti Ciaz / YL1. Scoop Pics on Page 99

Just wanted to ask this: Will Team BHP be reviewing this on time or should we still expect it to be delayed? I am referring to the issue which cropped up at the time of Celerio's review.

The car is looking good in the pictures and going by history, pricing should also be good.

Looks very elegant from the front. The rear is quite City-like, and the interiors look decent too. Looks like Suzuki designers thought of a Honda City without any bling or over styling elements... Smart!

Is it really going to get bi xenons as option? I was skeptical about the looks based on spy shots but damn it looks nice.

I have a thought that bothers me currently. Why do AT gear level look so boring?

Why no simple drama?

Because it looks like a 4 speed regular AT box.

Viddy,

I didn't mean to ask on the technical front but looks wise.

Plain looking, why not something like the one on the MT variant. In the place of the gear pattern, why not a 'S' logo?!

Sorry for the OT! Lets get back to Ciaz!

*misses cruise control* :(

Anyways given the lesser power on offer, they better price it *below* the city. If yes, then we will be booking one soon. However if the variants are priced in accordance with the City, I will be looking otherwise. Just hope the SX4 story repeats with an attractive pricing. Going to get my hands on a car in a day or two Lets see how the real world package is.

Basically the autobox is for namesake. They just want it to be there. Moreover I guess its imported from some supplier. For the meagre numbers they project in sales, I dont think customisation is possible. Hence they just plonk in whatever the supplier provides.

Anurag, let me show you the 'least manly way to shift' gears. This will make the Ciaz autostick look like a cockpit control!

No. If it is the regular 4 speed AT, it is Suzuki's own box that does duty in other models such as the DZire AT. It is fairly competent for city use, though not as good as CVTs on smoothness or the DSGs on outright performance.

Only the AMT used in Celerio is sourced from Magneti Marelli.
