Wow. That looks killer. I think the backseat space is gonna be a segment benchmark. Quality looks to be good too. Just hope we get a 1.6 DDiS. That would make the whole package sweet. Need to put my Verna CRDi booking on hold now. Any news about the launch date ??

re: Team-BHP SCOOP: Maruti Ciaz / YL1. Scoop Pics on Page 99

I must say I am disappointed by Maruti. Few things I noted which I would like to have

1. Grill design of Chinese version should make to India, also the rear chrome strip really looks sweet on the chinese version, and its absence in indian version is something which makes the rear look cheap
2. The front bumper chrome strip and sweet looking alloys are again missing on the indian variant.
Infact the Indian version is all about CHEAPNESS, with those el-cheapo steel wheels.

However I just came to know from my dealership manager that training for 1st batch of sales executives are over, they gave me some interesting info.
1. 1.4VVT is tuned for 102PS for Ciaz. This engine will also make its way into Ertiga during facelift.
2. 1.3 DDiS will be the basic engine for all diesel models, while 1.6L is expected only on ZDi. MAruti is facing difficulty in arranging for the licence for the 1.6L ddis from Fiat.
3. 1.6L VVT was also tested on the Ciaz, with 119PS power, but it will not make into production as Maruti wants to counter City's mileage figure, and they don't want a fuel guzzler tag for their Ciaz. It will come with S Cross, and a sports variant of Ciaz which is planned for late 2014.

Hi Leoshashi, Did the dealer confirm about the 1.6 Diesel coming in the ZDI Variant or is that in the pipeline to be introduced later?

I guess there will be the ZDi+ and ZXi+ versions to be introduced later, with 1.6L Diesel and Petrol engines.

This super-sleek stance is what I was expecting from the manufacturers to come up with. Honda did it with Civic and City. Now Suzuki too.

When can we expect them to come up with sleek hatchbacks and SUVs?

Not so sure about the back seat space. Looks like pic has been clicked when the seat has been moved forward completely. However, should be more spacious than other Maruti offerings till now.

It looks really good in white and those alloys are killer. Interiors look good too but the point is how many things we will get here in India. That touchscreen console looks like a 5 or 7 inch one and I don't think Maruti will give the same here. Lesse.

re: Team-BHP SCOOP: Maruti Ciaz / YL1. Scoop Pics on Page 99

Somehow, after the teaser ads and the final model rendition the thread has lost a great deal of steam!!

Does it signal that the interest levels for the Ciaz post and pre final model launches are on the wane?

@Harry10,

Those delicious alloys may not even feature in the India Spec launch and what we will get are 15" steel rims for VD and VD+ and some sober looking 16" alloys for the ZDi.

1.6 DDiS is definitely on cards and salesperson have got training on it. Maruti has adopted a similar sales strategy as Kizashi where a team will be dedicated exclusively for Ciaz
What is still not confirmed is whether the 1.6 will be launched now or not as Maruti is currently having issues in getting licence to produce it in India, and I think using an imported engine will increase the costs.
No info about Ertiga facelift though.

The image posted earlier in this thread does show the alloys that the India Spec will get, which are the same as the Alivio in the images

Yes, but the indian version scooped some pages back appears a bit stripped down to me.
I love the grill and the subtle chrome touches on the front and rear of the chinese Ciaz aka Alivio.
Also the tail lights on the chinese car are much sleeker and lovely than the Indian one which looks out of place on this car.

Those cars were 'V' versions, in which we can't expect the alloys.

Surely, Indian version is a scaled down one, but I assume we will get those double exhausts, steel inserts, sun roof, 1.6L engines etc in a sports version which may be launched later. As you mentioned, Maruti may want to get the 'fuel efficient' and 'VFM' tag for Ciaz first, and then introduce the higher end versions later to satisfy the enthusiasts.

They will adopt the same S cross strategy having 1.3DDIS as standard and 1.6MJD engine as variant in the Z variant only.

That's why I mentioned not sure how many features we will get here in India. Going by the history of recent launches we always get a stripped down version which is also confirmed by the scoop pics of production model recently.

Probably that's why thread has lost its steam as like me many people are really disappointed by what we are getting.
