The looks of the car, stance and likely equipment to be offered will make it a very strong competitor in the segment only if complemented with the right engines.

I really hope that Maruti brings in the 1.6 litre engines and not make do with the 1.4L petrol and 1.3 DDIS if they want to take the fight to the Honda City.

I don't like it. Short bonnet, high roof, longish boot make it look like the last generation Honda City.

I liked the pictures the car is more on straight lines rather than fluidic design which is my personal choice. Hope maruthi will be able to raise above its usual line in terms of quality of interiors, plastics, cabin niggles (which was highlighted most in SX4), fit & finish. The 1.3 ddis is definetely smaller in terms of competition but if Maruthi can price the car appropriately they sure will see numbers on sales charts. Anyways the speculations will end shortly as the launch is just around the corner.

cheers,
pdma.

Looks like 175 section tyres ? Come on Maruti don't compromise safety for your Arai figures. Hope I am proved wrong and the car gets decent shoes.
In my opinion the car is looking quite ordinary. If it comes with the 1.3 DDIS,Maruti cannot price it even close to the Linea.

Re: Scoop! Maruti SX4 Cross likely to come with Peugeot's DV6 1.6 HDi Diesel engine

Finally the SX4 production stops : http://auto.ndtv.com/news/maruti-suz...ciaz-625209?fb

So it means that launch of either Ciaz or SX4 Cross can be anytime soon.

Training has started for sales and service. Expect an early September launch as per speculation.

I think he Ciaz deserves a 1.6L MJD at least. Putting a 1.3L MJD on the Ciaz might make it a sluggish car. Wasn't the SX4, with the 1.3L MJD, quite sluggish? Also, I am very interested to know if the S-Cross will come with FIAT's engine or Peugeot's engine. A 120BHP cross-over will be quite decent and pose a tough competition to the Dusters and the Terranos.

Indeed, a 90PS on the Ciaz would be sluggish as it was feeling the same in the bulky SX4 IMO.

Hopefully the Ciaz and S-Cross get a 1.6L engine be it an MJD or the DV6 HDi from Peugeot.

Lol. This is the one question for which the whole country is waiting for an answer.

re: Team-BHP SCOOP: Maruti Ciaz / YL1. Scoop Pics on Page 99

One of the reasons why I think Maruti might not crack this segment would be their choice of engines. I would want a better engine than a 1.3MJD or 1.4 K Series when I'm shelling out close to 12 lacs in Bangalore OTR. A cracking 1.6L petrol (the one that does duty in the SX4 propably tuned slightly better) or the much awaited 1.6MJD.

Other than that, I think the car looks decent, on par with the competition. But I also feel Maruti is kinda late to the party.

Hoping for the best from Maruti. Competition is in the end good for us consumers. More Choice in the market.

re: Team-BHP SCOOP: Maruti Ciaz / YL1. Scoop Pics on Page 99

To begin with, i would like Maruti to come up with a much better name than Ciaz. And if they are listening, they should offer 2 engine variants of the diesel - 1.3MJD and a higher capacity engine (1.6MJD or the one they are contemplating for the S-Cross).
The 1.5 TDCi on the Ecosport is such a downer when it comes to top end. Absolutely no fun to drive and i hope MSIL doesn't make this new sedan a boring drive.

The rest am sure will be more or less taken care of.

Nothing significant here. Its the same 1.3L diesel and 1.4L petrol engines with same state of tunes as the Ertiga.

It might have been sluggish in the SX4, but not the same here(trust me ) Of course not to the likes of the Verna etc but still not disappointing.

Nope no 1.6L for Ciaz. For S-Cross yes. Basically the pricing will be attractive and such that it will undercut the segmen hence a bigger engine wont let this happen. Equipment levels are also high or Marutis standards and hence we cant expect Maruti to do a Tata on packaging. Try to offer everything, but nothing lasts.
Hence, whatever is offered, will be of a durable and reliable kind and no doubts regarding that.

re: Team-BHP SCOOP: Maruti Ciaz / YL1. Scoop Pics on Page 99

Just spoke to my regular SA.
He finished his training on both the diesel and petrol.
Launch is in september.
According to him both engines feel a lot different than their previous iterations i.e the 1.4 petrol used in Ertiga and 1.3 DDiS in swift.

Maruti must have tweaked with the ECU maps extensively, and hope they did not bring down the quality of metal to reduce the kerb weight and achieve better power to weight ratio.
