New Maruti Ciaz to focus on backseat comfort.

New Maruti Ciaz to be longer than fourth-gen Honda City; expected to arrive at our showrooms later in 2014.
Recent preview of the car has shown, will be well equipped to take on competition like the new Honda City. Suzuki has especially laid emphasis on making the rear seat of the upcoming Ciaz comfortable keeping in mind markets like India and China where the car will be sold.

Engineers normally sit in the driver's seat, but here, they sat in the back bench to fine-tune and improve ride quality for rear occupants. Other rear seat specific changes include rigid mounting of the suspension components. These allowed engineers to employ slightly softer springs for a better, more cushioned ride.

The back seat will have ample space to relax and Suzuki wants customers to enjoy its large internal size.

Apart from the spacious cabin, the interior is expected to have a European influence and will make use of clean surfaces and metallic accents rather than just bold styling bits. Suzuki’s sketch helps us deduce that the dual-tone dashboard will consist of a wooden belt dividing the dark top section and the beige bottom half of the dash

One thing to note from the Chinese production variant is the rear twin exhaust. The same is not seen in the test mules being driven in India. Will we be getting the lower spec'ed engine? Or will it be different for petrol and diesel?

Looks awesome in the production version!
Hopefully, India will receive all of the kit as in China (as, in the pictures).

Now, this definitely has the potential to earn the "City Beater" title.
Additionally, the July launch just stole the thunder!

If Maruti can keep the waiting periods in check, do we see a major chunk of the people (including ones who've booked the higher variants of the City and been quoted an atrocious waiting period of 3-4 months)

Some similarities/design cues I found near of:

Front:

a) Ritz + Ertiga - Grille and air dam
b) Kizashi - Headlight design
c) Hyundai i20 - Fog lamp

Rear:

a) New Honda City - Tail lamp design
b) New Elantra and Honda City - Whole rear end.

Ciaz's tail lamp design was seen much before the New City was unveiled.

ACI has more details on the rear syling of the Ciaz.

Rear styling is also similar to the concept but the main thing to notice here is that the exhaust tips are incorporated into the bumpers just like on the concept car. This provision is unique for a sedan in this class. However, the Indian version may get a bit toned down styling such as conventional exhaust arrangement with reflectors taking place of the Alivio’s exhausts seen in these pictures.

Although for now, details on the engine are scarce, Suzuki had confirmed earlier that the Alivio concept is powered by a 1.5-litre DOHC four-cylinder petrol engine mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. The Japanese carmaker also said that the Alivio is 4,545mm long, 1,730mm wide and 1,475mm tall. The Indian version is expected to get the 90bhp version of Fiat’s MultiJet engine as well

Rear dual silencer from Kizashi would put off 'family' type car owners audience. If they come as optional on some 2.4L V6 package then would go along with the whole deal, else on a 1.5-1.6 would look out of place.

Well, bonnet scoops haven't stopped families from buying Fortuners have they? Coupe like styling hasn't stopped the Elantra from being segment best seller either has it? People want sporty today buddy and they always will. While I don't personally like these ones as much, integrated dual exhausts will go a long way in improving the car's desirability factor across the age/gender spectrum

Adding to what Ishaan has said.

In India, when you see so many people putting the chrome exhaust tips to show them how, even when the pipes are bent and under the rear bumper, i really doubt that the rear dual exhaust tips would take a buyer away. An average buyer would probably be happy that he has saved on some moolah and can put chrome somewhere else!
