re: Team-BHP SCOOP: Maruti Ciaz / YL1. Scoop Pics on Page 99

So here is latest rumour/confusing info that i chanced upon today.
Since the day i read about the possible july launch of the ciaz i have been thinking about poking my maruti sales person about the probable launch date as i know sales guys tend to go for upcoming vehicle sales training approximately 2 months prior 2 the release.
so i called him today citing that i want to upgrade and the linea tjet fits my bill, but incase he can convince me that the ciaz is around the corner and worth the wait i will wait.
What came as a reply puzzled me.
"Sir we have been asked form separate teams for the SX4 replacement and also the X-Alpha but we are as confused as you are about marutis game.We have blocked those guys as they can be called anytime for sales training. What i can do is give you a call as soon as they are summoned for training."

Whats marutis game guys ? The X-Alpha and we haven't had any reports of test mules as well?

Nice picture though to keep the suspense building up by Maruti. Hope they price it right and introduce it with the right set of motors.

Maruti if your reading - Get rid of that 1.3L DDiS engine if your planning to use it in this car. That engine is best for your hatches and not a sedan. Come On and get the 1.6 MJD for the YL1/Ciaz.

Anurag.
Hi Anurag

Are you sure this is for the YL1, even if we go by the latest reports that it will be launched by June isn't a mailer 2 months in advance a little too early. Or is it that the launch will happen in April and the actual sales from June (like the city).

I have received this image in an email from maruti suzuki. Does this mean that YL1/Ciaz is about to be launched in India very soon?
Seeing the sentence "Your first step towards mobility", it seems like an ad for their driving school! Or, a competition is arranged for Ciaz launch, where the prize will be a Ciaz?

Never seen a car have so many names YL1, Authentics, Ciaz and now Alivio. Every auto show they change colour and one design element.

Wow! This should be quite the looker in its segment. How these images make me wish we never had that stupid ban on tinted glass

Reports mention a 1.5 liter petrol motor under the hood, and that the car will have well sorted ride and handling

Though the tail lamp design is similar to City, it looks much better. I hope this design comes as it is, with very minimal changes. Side profile too looks better than City.

Speculations are rife that top end would get the 1.6 MJD! Any further information on this? If they are able to source this engine, then why not plonk it across all trim levels? Verna's 1.4/1.6 strategy has hardly seen the 1.4 moving off the shelf. Either way, only if they bring in the MJD!

Side profile is like the last gen Civic. Civic is a little longer though.

Why would FIAT give away the 1.6 MJD when they haven't launched it in the new linea MJD?
However if its true then its going to be an interesting prospect, maybe Fiat is used to its tactics of learning from its own mistakes (fire petrol to Tjet) , or maybe importing the 1.6 is too costly an affair for them. So they might try it by selling it to Maruti who in turn will make huge profits

regards

With more than 4500mm length and 1.6MJD, I don't think this car will compete in the SX4 price range, but will be in an upper segment. Otherwise, Maruti should competitively price it in the SX4 range.

Or maybe Maruti will use the Honda technique of lightening the build to such a degree that even the 1.3 mjd will be enough? Honda's 1.5 diesel in the city (not a small car by any means) boasts of performance figures barely any better than the 1.3 mjd, with less refinement to boot. So if Maruti goes light and flimsy they wouldn't need the 1.6.

The 1.6mjd is coming for sure. Only question is when, and whether Fiat will offer it to Suzuki India before it uses it in the Linea and in whatever Jeep fiat part-manufactures in Ranjangaon in a year or two's time.

I'm going to quote Mr. Toshihiro Suzuki, the executive VP of Suzuki Motor Corp, "the Concept CIAZ is designed to meet the growing demand in C-Segment market in India, China and elsewhere..."

I think we can then safely assume that all future iterations of the concept like the Alivio, and finally the production spec car, will be fighting it out in the C-Segment. You're right about the specs though; they sound too good to be true. Let's just wait and see

Alivio in its intended markets is likely to compete in the C segment with Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic.
