Re: Team-BHP renders the 2014 Suzuki Alto/A-Star

What a difference those instagram filters can make!

The car looks very bland now. Maruti should have given it a darker blue.
The bonnet reminds me of the Micra, may be shaped this way to conform to the European pedestrian safety standards, which is I say is needed more here. The interiors are definitely much better and somehow don't match the exteriors.

Seeing the size of the rear parcel tray, we can assume the boot space will be much better than even Swift!

The upright position of the rear seats will be helping for this.

Motoroids have gone crazy. Thats the A-Star.

Don't expect the results so soon. Even the Hyundai 2013 new i10 is not up on Euro NCAP.

Re: Team-BHP renders the 2014 Suzuki Alto/A-Star

I have recieved information from trustworthy sources that suzuki celerio will be launched february 5/6 in delhi.

The car will have 2 transmission options.
1. MT
2. AMT

Training has already begun for the car.

The AMT has a D mode and a M mode.
In the D mode the car works like any other automatic transmission.* But in M mode the car changes gear only on user input. It has a +/- slot for upshift/downshift.

Maruti-Suzuki has officially opened the bookings for it's all-new Celerio, reports Motoroids.

Thanks to this newspaper advertisement, we have come to know that Maruti Suzuki Celerio bookings have officially commenced.

It may be noted that the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Celerio India debut is slated to happen at the fast approaching Auto Expo 2014 and the highly anticipated model is merely some days away from its launch.

While the Celerio will be a complete model replacement for current gen Alto in most international markets, in India, it would replace both the A-Star, which is nothing but the current gen Alto, and the now-discontinued Estila (internationally known as the MRWagon).

Re: Team-BHP renders the 2014 Suzuki Alto/A-Star

Good News, What is more remarkable is the fuel efficiency figures mentioned in the advertisement. This FE is higher than the Current Alto K10, outgoing Estilo and A-star.

This car can prove to be a great turnaround success for Maruti as this FE is matched with the A/T (as per the advertisement). If price correctly, it can give a serious competition to the A/T Grandi10 and Honda Brio.

Re: Team-BHP renders the 2014 Suzuki Alto/A-Star

The car looks nice in the pictures.

But as the AMT variant is coming only in the VX guise (according to reports), and IIRC as per an earlier interior picture, it shall have only manually adjustable OVRMs. That is one big turnoff. It is an equally important convenience feature.

Re: Team-BHP renders the 2014 Suzuki Alto/A-Star

The tyres seem to be high profile 165/80R14 ones that are used on the L_i and V_i variants of the Ritz and Swift. If so, this is a welcome change from the narrower 155/65R13s on the Estilo VXi, the 155/80R13s on the A-Star and even the 155/65R14s on the Wagon R VXi. This size should enable an easy upgrade to 185/70R14s (with a GC loss of ~ 2.5mm), as long as the wheels are wide enough. But I think 165 section tyres are good enough for a car powered by a 1.0 lit. 68PS engine, as long as it's good quality rubber. This is a spy picture of the VXi variant, courtesy ACI:

Team-BHP renders the 2014 Suzuki Alto/A-Star-image.jpg

The variants are the biggest disappointment. It's shocking to read that the AMT will not come with safety features at all. This is an extremely foolish move, just like what Hyundai have done with the Grand i10. I hope both manufacturers offer safety features on these automatics in the near future. I don't see why automatic buyers should be denied the basic safety features.

The ZXi comes only with a driver's airbag, while the ZXi(O) gets two airbags and ABS. This is okay, but it would have been better if the VXi came with a driver's airbag, and the ZXi with 2 airbags and ABS as standard. The fixed headrests at the front and rear are a big disappointment. At least, the rear seat is a single folding 60:40 split one, which is a relief.

The engine seems to be a tweaked K10B which Maruti are calling the K-next. According to ACI, the tweaks have improved the low-end torque and drivability, and this would be welcomed by those who found the K10B to be lacking in low-end grunt. ACI's preliminary acceleration numbers also show the Celerio to be the fastest car that sports the K10B engine.

The AMT equipped car seems to lose less than a second in the dash to the ton, which is welcome. The claimed ARAI test figures for fuel efficiency are the same, which is unsurprising as it is a manual transmission that is automated. The AMT seems to do the job for the most part, except for slow and jerky shifts, according to the reviews. I hope this kind of gearbox proves to be reliable and low-maintenance in the long run.

Given the dimensions, engine and features, it looks like they are going to position the Celerio below the Ritz, but slightly above the Wagon R. With the Estilo and A-Star going out of production, it would leave the Alto k10, Wagon R (including Stingray) and the Celerio as the troika of cars sporting this 1.0 lit. 3-pot motor. As the most modern of the three with a chassis that was built (and not modified) for the K10B engine, the Celerio should easily climb to the top of the sales charts. Wagon R (and Stingray) sales would likely see a fall as people choose the Celerio, but as long as they stay within the brand, MSIL would be more than happy.

Re: Team-BHP renders the 2014 Suzuki Alto/A-Star

ACI reports that the Celerio could have a starting price of 3.9 lakhs for the manual variant, and 4.9 lakhs for the automatic variant, as per their sources.

Quote:
The automatic version of the new Maruti Celerio could start from 4.9 lakhs.
Our sources also tell us that the car will come with dual-tone interiors, steering mounted controls, and the higher variants could come with a double-DIN system with Bluetooth connectivity.
Other manual versions of the car could start at as low as Rs 3.9 lakh, making it, potentially, yet another value-for-money Maruti.
